摘要: An apparatus and method for continuously forming multi-layer metal pipe from at least two elongated sheets of metal. One sheet is impressed with longitudinal corrugations in a rolling device and the second sheet, being uncorrugated, is then positioned contiguously upon the first, forming a multi-layer sheet. One or more removable modules is mounted in the rolling device to accurately align and guide the second sheet into position upon the first. Complementary portions of a single corrugation are then formed in the marginal edges of the multi-layer sheet and the sheet is spiralled into adjacent, helical convolutions in a pipe forming device, with the uncorrugated sheet forming the pipe interior. The adjacent convolutions are joined in a helical seam in the single corrugation by a seaming device located in the pipe forming device. In the primary embodiment of the invention, the seam is formed as a double lock seam along a neutral axis of the single corrugation.

摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for performing automated color authoring for images of items having multiple color variations. A photographically captured source image of an item is obtained. The source image corresponds to one color variation of the item. A selection mask defining the item in the source image is obtained. A target image of the item corresponding to another color variation is generated by automatically transforming the item defined by the selection mask in the source image to the other color variation based at least in part on data obtained from multiple previous manual color variation transformations for multiple other items.

摘要: A reinforced, spirally wound tube or pipe product shaped from an elongated sheet of ductile material formed into adjacent, helical convolutions. The pipe is impressed with at least one longitudinal impression which is trapezoidal in cross-section and formed at the same helix angle as the convolutions so that it is parallel to the juncture of adjacent convolutions. A conforming reinforcement element is located in the impression to strengthen the impression and form a closure of the mouth of the impression. The impression protrudes from the outer wall of the pipe, leaving the inner wall surface of the pipe generally smooth. Adjacent edges of the spiralled sheet are either welded or joined by a continuous lock seam.

摘要: A multi-layer, spirally wound tube or pipe product with a substantially smooth inner wall having a single, helical corrugation and a corrugated exterior wall. The pipe has an inner pipe layer consisting of an elongated sheet of flat material curled into adjacent, helical convolutions and an outer pipe layer consisting of an elongated sheet of corrugated material curled into adjacent, helical convolutions about the inner pipe layer. The inner and outer pipe layers share a common helical seam. A single, continuous helical corrugation is located in the inner pipe layer along the helical seam, thereby causing the seam to be located within the single corrugation.

摘要: An adjustable horn or mandrel for a spiral pipe forming machine. Such machines are made for continuously forming metal pipe from an elongated sheet of metal where the sheet is curled into adjacent helical convolutions in a multiple roll pipe forming head. The head includes a mandrel, and in accordance with the invention a mandrel mount is provided for vertical adjustment of the mandrel. The mandrel mount has opposite side supports sandwiching the mandrel and a motor mounted for raising and lowering the mandrel between the side supports. Raising and lowering is accomplished via a pair lead screws secured to the mandrel, each having a gear threadedly engaged thereon and which is driven by the motor. The mandrel is also horizontally adjustable.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the continuous manufacture of reinforced, spirally wound pipe having a generally smooth inner wall produced from an elongated flat sheet of ductile material, such as galvanized steel, and one or more narrow strips of ductile material. The sheet and strips are situated in rolls located at the entry end of a rolling apparatus which is constructed to form one longitudinal, generally trapezoidal reinforced impression in the sheet corresponding to each of the narrow strips. In the process of forming the impressions, rolling stands in the rolling apparatus first fashion a longitudinal, generally rectangular channel in the sheet corresponding to each strip as the sheet progresses through the rolling apparatus. At the same time, the strips are shaped into reinforcement elements having an extended, continuous portion and splayed legs extending outwardly from the edges of the continuous portion. After formation, each strip is inserted into its respective channel and the channel closed about the strip to form the trapezoidal impression. The reinforced sheet is then curled into adjacent, helical convolutions which are joined with an appropriate seam.
