Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method for licensing at least one hardware resource for use by a customer computer, the at least one hardware resource provided by an application service provider (ASP) distinct from the customer computer. The method includes providing licensed units to a customer, assigning a predetermined number of ASP assigned hardware units to the at least one hardware resource, and determining whether the customer can utilize the at least one hardware resource using the licensed units provided to the customer and the ASP assigned hardware units for the assigned to the at least one hardware resource.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method of licensing the use of digital content on a digital content execution device including providing a total number of licensed tokens from a licensed token pool for executing digital executable content on the digital content execution device, assigning a number of tokens to each distinct digital executable content, controlling use of the total licensed tokens provided to the digital content execution device by a license manager separate from and in communication with the digital content execution device and in response to a request to execute digital content on the digital content execution device, the license manager allowing execution of the requested digital content on the digital content execution device through the allocation of the number of tokens assigned to the digital content from the licensed token pool.
Abstract:
A hand-held housing contains an image sensor, a processor, a memory, a visual display and input control buttons for recording, storing, displaying and retrieving images from a document, such as a business card. The image sensor generates electrical data signals representative of the image on a document as the housing is moved across the document in a scanning embodiment or the images on a document disposed beneath the housing in a single record embodiment, which signals are stored in the memory by the processor and concurrently displayed on the display. The input control buttons, through the control program executed by the processor, provide for scanning, storage and retrieval of images from memory for display. The processor stores the images in a linked list or lists in the memory and is capable of rearranging, adding or deleting any image associated with a particular document in any list in the memory.
Abstract:
A predetermined number of assigned units for each of a plurality of individually selectable pieces of digital content are checked when each piece of digital content is executed in a customer computer network or on an application service provider. Execution of a requested digital content is granted when the number of required units to execute the requested digital content is less than or equal to the total number of available units. Any licensed digital content may be executed on the separate application service provider through a communication network. Access is granted for execution of the requested digital content by a license manager based on whether the application service provider required units of the requested digital content are greater than the available units on the requesting customer computer network. Execution of the requested digital content on the application service provider may be immediate if the application service provider is available or execution can be delayed. If the requested digital content cannot be executed immediately, the required units can be locked up and charged to the customer computer network available units or left uncharged.
Abstract:
An LED based light and a method of providing power to the LED are disclosed. The LED based light includes at least one LED and at least one thermoelectric generator having a first side and a second side. The first side is thermally coupled to the at least one LED such that heat generated by the at least one LED is conducted to the at least one thermoelectric generator, producing a temperature differential between the first side and second side. The at least one thermoelectric generator is configured to produce electrical energy from the temperature differential.
