Abstract:
A method and apparatus for collecting information relating to a driver of a motor vehicle using portable computing apparatus, camera for capturing an image or images relating to operation of the vehicle by the driver and a location sensor for providing information relating to location of the vehicle. The computing apparatus is capable of recording information from an observer relating to operation of the vehicle by the driver to enable the driver to be assessed. The method and apparatus may be applied to capturing information relating to any observable scene. Information collected as above may be used for a training or an information program for drivers or users of vehicles.
Abstract:
Updates to components of an interface may be carried out from a program executed in an emulated environment. For example, an interface that provides communications for the program in the emulated environment to the host operating system may be updated from the program in the emulated environment. Centralizing updates through the program improves the likelihood that components, such as the interface, have compatible versions with the program executing in the emulated environment. Thus, as the program is updated other components are updated by the program.
Abstract:
Data rates in secure data communications may be improved by executing helper applications to assist a computer system in responding to requests for secure data. The computation-intensive calculations may be offloaded to helper applications executing on different central processor units (CPUs). When the helper applications execute on different CPUs, higher data rates are achievable because additional CPU time is available for handling the encryption and decryption processing. A main application receives the initial request for secure data connections and assigns tasks related to the connections to the helper applications.
Abstract:
A method of improving car steering performance is disclosed. The method comprises modifying the size of the flow path for supply of hydraulic fluid from a pump to a steering unit so that the flow path is of a size greater than the size prior to modification. The modification can be made by increasing the size of a bore (61) of a bolt (63) forming a restriction (45) in the pump or by modifying a fitting (47) to increase fluid flow through the fitting (47).
Abstract:
A fuel supply system and fuel filter for a vehicle prevent bleed down of the fuel filter and minimizes the amount of any air or vapor delivered to the fuel supply line. The fuel filter includes a housing enclosing a filter media. The filter includes an inlet for receiving fuel from the fuel pump. The filter also includes first and second outlets. The first outlet supplies filtered fuel to the fuel supply line. The second outlet supplies filtered fuel to the jet pump. In this way, by providing a single outlet from the fuel pump to the fuel filter, and providing two outlets from the fuel filter which separately leads to the fuel supply line and the jet pump, bleed down is prevented and vapors within the fuel supply line are reduced.
Abstract:
Error information may be made quickly and easily accessible to an administrator by logging communications attempts in the operating system of a server. When the interface processor resides outside of the operating system, the interface processor may provide indications to the operating system of communications attempts. Specifically, the interface processor may provide message packets to the pass-through communications processor of the operating system when SSL/TLS communications attempts fail to establish secure communications sessions. The message packets may include information useful for diagnosing errors in SSL/TLS communication failures such as errors in the creation and management of certificates, certificate trust, private and public keys, and/or cipher suites. The communications logs in the operating system may be reviewed and/or analyzed by an administrator with a log trace analysis application.
Abstract:
A fuel flange assembly for a vehicle fuel system provides Electro Static Dissipation without an undue increase in cost or reduction in the durability of the tank components. The fuel flange assembly generally includes a fuel tube, a tank flange, and a pressure control device. The fuel tube is constructed of a conductive polymer and has an inlet and an outlet. The fuel tube includes a portion defining a housing positioned between the inlet and the outlet. The tank flange is constructed of a non-conductive polymer. The pressure control device is fitted within the housing and includes a conductive outer casing engaging the fuel tube and forming an electrical pathway.
Abstract:
An in-tank fuel supply unit includes a fuel filter attached to a fuel delivery module for in-tank placement that does not limit the capacity of the unit or increase the size of the unit in a manner that creates undesirable packaging issues. The fuel supply unit generally comprises a fuel delivery module having a housing and a fuel pump. A fuel filter is rigidly attached to a side of the housing such that the fuel delivery module and fuel filter are placed within the fuel tank through the opening as a single unit. The fuel delivery module and fuel filter form an L-shape which permits the entire unit to be inserted through the standard opening which is sized for the fuel delivery module alone.
Abstract:
A transaction product includes a digital camera assembly, a housing and an account identifier. The digital camera assembly includes a lens assembly, an image sensor aligned with the lens assembly, and a memory electrically coupled with the image sensor. The digital camera assembly is configured to capture images through the lens assembly using the image sensor and to digitally store the captured images to the memory. The housing substantially encloses the image sensor and the memory. The account identifier links the transaction product to an account or record and is machine readable by a point-of-sale terminal such that value can be added to or deducted from the account or record using the account identifier. Other product, cards, assemblies and associated methods are also disclosed.
