摘要:
A method and system for regenerating particulate filters, catalyzed soot filters, and NOx adsorber catalysts for a vehicle having a compression ignition engine.
摘要:
A method to detect drive cycles of a vehicle and modify engine operation according to the detected drive cycles to effect regeneration of exhaust components, particularly the Diesel Particulate Filter.
摘要:
The disclosure is directed to a method to determine oil consumption in an internal combustion engine that does not require extended operation of the engine in the files and is adaptable to be useful at production facilities for testing of sample engines from the line without installation of the engine into a vehicle and operating the vehicle in order to determine oil consumption of the engine during operating conditions.

A method for diagnosing a turbocharger (10) includes disconnecting the compressor outlet conduit (26) so that the engine (12) is naturally aspirated and using the engine to drive the turbine (14) of the turbocharger. The compressor outlet conduit (26) has a restriction (28) to create a backpressure which is measured along with the inlet pressure, barometric pressure and ambient temperature. The flow rate is determined and compared to acceptable parameters from a map data provided by a turbocharger manufacturer to diagnose if the turbocharger is operating within the acceptable parameters.

摘要:
A method for cold start white smoke protection of a hydrocarbon after treatment device, and method of engine operation to effect the same. The method comprises a) determining the temperature of the hydrocarbon after-treatment device during cold start conditions; b) determining hydrocarbon emissions in the hydrocarbon after-treatment device; and c) modifying engine operating conditions to raise the hydrocarbon after-treatment temperature at a pre-determined rate to a temperature sufficient to permit controlled oxidation of the hydrocarbons in the hydrocarbon after treatment device.
