摘要： A system and method provides a user interface on an electronic device with a listing of the most recently used or viewed items that is organized by the category of item. A menu containing the most recently read items is separated into separate categories such as books and periodicals. The menu displays the most recently opened item in each of the categories. In this manner, one category will not dominate over the other categories on the menu.

摘要： A system and method for displaying periodical digital content. A device sorts and organizes the periodical content stored on the device according to the title of the periodical and further according the dates of the periodicals. Each periodical, e.g., newspapers and magazines, after sorting, are displayed on the device's user interface on its own virtual shelf according to the periodical, and then preferably in chronological order within the shelf that is dedicated to the periodical. Alternatively, the periodicals are sorted by issue date, and virtual shelves are dedicated specific date ranges, e.g., “Today,” “This Week,” “This Month.”
