摘要: A diagnostic system according to the present invention diagnoses system failure of a secondary air injection system. The secondary air injection system includes a pump that provides air to an exhaust system via a conduit and a valve that controls the flow of air through the conduit. A pressure sensor measures pressure in the conduit. A controller predicts pressure in the conduit during first, second and third operational phases of the secondary air injection system. The controller compares the measured pressure to the predicted pressure to evaluate operation of the secondary air injection system. During the first phase, the secondary air injection system is used to reduce vehicle emissions. During the second phase, the valve is shut while the pump is on. During the third phase, the pump is turned off while the valve is closed.

摘要: A pressurized fluid transport assembly includes a flexible component, such as a molded rubber component, that defines an interior passage through which the pressurized fluid flows. A sleeve surrounds at least a portion of the outer surface of the flexible component. The flexible component fits through an aperture in a support wall, such as a transmission casing, and has opposing first and second end portions configured to fit flush with a pressure source and a pressure destination when the component is through the aperture. The sleeve prevents expansion of the flexible component due to the pressurized fluid, such as expansion radially outward from the interior passage, but does not compromise the flexibility of the flexible component in a direction substantially parallel with the interior passage. A method of manufacturing the pressurized fluid transport assembly is also provided.

摘要: Significant restriction in an automotive internal combustion engine intake air filter is diagnosed over a wide range of engine operating conditions including low intake airflow rate conditions by qualifying transduced pressure drop across the air filter using airflow rate through the filter. A diagnostic count is maintained and updated in accord with detected significant restriction conditions. Adjustment values applied to the diagnostic count vary in accord with the degree of confidence associated with each detected significant restriction condition, such as indicated by varying engine intake airflow conditions.

摘要: The torque reduction of an internal combustion engine in response to an excessive acceleration spin condition is provided by a combination of disabling selected engine cylinders and spark retard. When a reduction of engine torque output is required in response to an excessive acceleration spin condition of the vehicle, the first level of torque reduction is provided at a level less than the torque reduction resulting from disabling a single cylinder of the engine by retarding the spark timing of the spark ignition in the cylinders. The amount of the retard of spark timing is such that the resulting torque reduction is less than the torque reduction resulting from disabling a single cylinder of the engine.
