摘要： A machine nozzle attached to the barrel of an injection molding machine. The nozzle comprises a body having a central passage and surrounded by a coiled electric heater extending substantially the full length of the body. A cover surrounds the heater, and a removable retainer is attached to the end of the body, so that the heater may be easily removed and replaced. The new construction eliminates problems inherent in previous machine nozzles and is capable of accurate temperature control so as to improve molding quality.

摘要： An injection nozzle has gearing which drives a valve pin to open and close a mold gate, with a venting chamber in a nozzle body allowing vapors to escape before reaching the gearing to avoid fouling of the gearing. The valve pin is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder driving the gearing, which includes a pair of pinion gears driving gear teeth on either side of the upper end of the valve pin. An adjustable stop is provided limiting piston travel in either direction, allowing adjustment of both the closed and open positions of the valve pin.

摘要： A method and apparatus for multiple cavity injection molding which permits individual variation of gate opening time for mold shut-off bushings. The gate pins for the shut-off bushings are controlled by individual double-acting fluid motor, the bushings being fed by a common manifold. Gate opening is thus not dependent upon attainment of a predetermined injection pressure. Closure of the gate for each cavity will permit material to be fed faster to the other cavities. Novel means is provided for securing each gate pin to its actuating cylinder, which minimizes heat transfer to the motor, accommodates expansion of the material manifold and permits gate opening adjustment. The fluid motors are end-mounted on an actuating fluid manifold, allowing close juxtaposition. A cycle counter may be used to control inventory.

摘要： A self-contained molding machine nozzle which is mountable in the mold die and has optimum material flow and heat control characteristics while reducing repair costs. The nozzle comprises an elongated body having a central passage, and a replaceable exit cap mounted at the forward end of the body, this exit cap carrying a torpedo which guides the material to the exit orifice. An external heater surrounds the body and extends over the cap which is provided with flats to facilitate removal and limit heat transfer. An air gap is provided between the cap and surrounding mold die to prevent undesired chilling of the tip by the cooled die.

摘要： Injection molding apparatus is disclosed having an actuation system for operation of a shut off valve pin, movably mounted in a valve gate, the system including a first gear rack connected to the valve pin, a first pinion gear driven by the first gear rack connected at one end of a cross shaft, a second pinion gear at the other end of the cross shaft, and a externally mounted two way power cylinder operating a second gear rack to rotate the second pinion gear in mesh therewith so that both pinion gears rotate together, and the valve pin is reciprocated by operation of the power cylinder. The power cylinder is mounted for angular adjustment about the axis of rotation of the pinion gears and cross shaft to enable ready adjustment of the closing position of the valve pin in the valve gate.

摘要： An injection molding nozzle for use with a flowable molding material in a mold die having an elongated member with a fluid passage extending through it and a cap member having an exit orifice in fluid communication with the fluid passage of the elongated member. A torpedo member is located partially in the fluid passage of the elongated member and the torpedo member has a projection that extends into the exit orifice in the cap member to provide heat to the adjacent flowing molding material when the molding nozzle is in use. The heat provided by this projection on the torpedo member prevents the flowing molding material in the nozzle exit from solidifying and interrupting the molding process.

摘要： An internally heated injection molding machine nozzle which permits heater removal and replacement without the necessity of removing the nozzle from the mold. The nozzle also reduces inventory requirements by having interchangeable components. The nozzle comprises a shank housing with interchangeable shanks and bodies mounted at the forward end and a removable cap at the rearward end together with a heater retaining plug. The heater may be removed from the rear merely by removing the cap and plug while the nozzle is still mounted in the mold.
