    摘要: A plastic bonded magnet is formed of a solidified mixture of thermoplastic powder and magnetic particles capable of being permanently magnetized. The magnet in one form is cylindrical and provided with a coaxial bore. The particles are substantially uniformly dispersed throughout the magnet in coaxial sections extending between the cylinder axis and the periphery of the magnet. Also the particles are substantially commonly aligned throughout. A given quantity of the particles may be orientable which leads to the common alignment.The method of fabricating the magnet includes the steps of mixing quantities of plastic material and solid magnetizable particles to obtain a substantially uniform mixture. The mixture is injection molded to form the magnetic body, the molding step including the injection of the mixture into a cavity having a form of the body, primarily cylindrical, and through a disc-shaped gating orifice on the aforesaid axis, which is midway between the body ends. The orifice opens radially into the cavity uninterruptedly completely around said axis whereby the molten mixture fills the cavity uniformly radially from the axis and the perimeter of the orifice. Upon solidification of the molten plastic, the particles will be secured in position.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improved valve pin for an injection molding system and a method of making the same. The elongated valve pin has a tip end portion which extends from a larger driven end portion into the flow of melt to the cavity. The elongated tip end portion is provided with a desired combination of strength and thermal conductivity by having a copper core inside a steel casing. The casing is made by brazing a tip end cap member to a hollow sleeve. A predetermined quantity of copper wire is then inserted into the casing and melted in a vacuum furnace to form an integral construction. The excess sleeve is then cut off and the end is brazed into a well in the driven end portion of the valve pin. The tip end cap member is then machined to provide a tip end of a desired shape. Filling the copper into the steel casing in a vacuum furnace bonds them together without any insulative spaces, thereby relatively inexpensively providing a valve pin structure which has the necessary structural strength to withstand repeated closing forces, while at the same time providing for the improved transfer of heat along the valve pin to the gate area.

    摘要: A nozzle for the introduction of liquefied plastic material into a mold has a channel terminating at one end in an injection orifice and adjoining at its other end a reduced bore serving for the guidance of a valve pin slidable with all-around clearance in that channel, the pin having a rear extremity projecting from its guide bore. A passage for the admission of liquefied molding material under pressure enters the channel at its junction with the reduced guide bore, rearwardly of a set of skew fins of the pin serving for additional guidance thereof in the channel and for imparting relative rotary motion to the flow and the pin. The orifice is blocked at the end of an injection operation by a pusher acting upon the projecting rear extremity; it is unblocked, upon withdrawal of the pusher, by the pressure of the molding material in the channel upon a forwardly facing annular shoulder of the pin.

    摘要: An injection gate of a mold cavity comprises an elongate valve rod which passes axially through a flow channel for molten plastic material and is guided in an extension of a thin-walled steel cylinder open at its opposite end toward an adjoining manifold plate. The rod extremity remote from the gate is secured to a tubular neck of a piston inside the cylinder whose stroke length is a fraction of the axial height of the cylinder's interior, a clearance around this neck providing space for drooling plastic while the length of the neck and of the peripheral cylinder wall serves for thermally insulating the manifold plate from the flow channel. The piston has a head sliding within an internal annular shoulder of the cylinder wall, proximal to the manifold plate, which is traversed by axially oriented bores communicating with the aforementioned clearance whereby pressure fluid such as compressed air can be selectively admitted from conduits in the manifold plate to either side of the piston head for reciprocating same together with the valve rod. A plurality of such valve-control pistons can be connected to these conduits in parallel for simultaneous actuation by the air pressure applied thereto.

    摘要: An improved nozzle feed assembly is described. The assembly includes temperature-controlled member, preferably cylindrical in shape, having a closed end and an open end. The open end is fitted with standard threads to facilitate attachment of the nozzle member to the feed barrel of a conventional screw-type molding machine. The nozzle member has an internal temperature controlling means and a plurality of feed outlets positioned on the periphery of the nozzle member near the closed end. The temperature maintained in the nozzle member is sufficiently high to maintain the thermosetting molding material within the nozzle member in a plasticized state and sufficiently low that no substantial curing of the thermosetting molding material takes place. In an alternate mode, the assembly includes a sleeve member positioned around the periphery of the nozzle member and moveable to cover and uncover the feed outlets in the periphery of the nozzle member. In such alternate mode, means are provided to move the sleeve member from a position wherein the feed outlets are covered when the mold faces are open to a position wherein the feed outlets are uncovered when the mold faces are closed.

It comprises a distribution plate pierced with channels for the inlet of the plastics material to be injected and provided with heating means and an impression plate comprising a plurality of impression inserts into which the plastics material is to be injected. Injection nozzles are disposed between the distribution plate and the various impression inserts, each presenting an injection orifice opening into the impression insert associated therewith and being obturated by an obturator needle mounted to slide axially in the nozzle. The connection between the distribution plate and each nozzle is ensured by a material transfer tube engaged in two cavities made respectively in the distribution plate and the nozzle, opposite each other, the first communicating with a channel for the inlet of the plastics material and the second with the injection orifice of the nozzle, this transfer tube being in tight contact with the lateral walls of the two cavities via two respective spherical sectors provided on its side surface.

    摘要: A single screw injection device or extruder sequentially injects skin and foamed plastics melts into a mold to produce structural skin covered foam molded parts free from swirl marks. A single extrusion screw or plasticator selectively feeds, compresses and meters a plastics melt to a first injector for skin melt injection or to a gas injection well where it meters gas flow into the melt, mixes the gas and melt to form a foam and feeds the foam to a second injector for foam melt injection into the mold. A valve controls the flow of the plastics melt and the foamed plastics melt to a single injection nozzle for discharge into the mold. In sandwich molding, a small amount of the unfoamed melt is first injected to form the skin for the molded article and then the valve is shifted to connect the nozzle with the foamed melt from the screw whereupon the injector forces the foamed melt through the nozzle into the mold to overlie the skin melt. The skin melt and the foamed melt are fed through the same nozzle and swirling in the mold is avoided.
