摘要: The present invention is directed to the remote control of locomotives, and more particularly to various methods and apparatus employed in implementing systems for such remote control. Contemplated in the present invention are systems and methods for not only reliable remote-control communications, but also the use of repeaters and communications servers to assure reliable, centralized communication between locomotives and operator control units. In another embodiment, there is described a reliable distributed communication mode using an uncorrelated time sequence that does not interfere with a time division multiple access network. Differentiation between the centralized mode and the distributed mode is accomplished by assessing whether a locomotive and control unit is within a rail yard's infrastructure. Moreover, reliability is assured using a coordination server that dynamically routes packets between multiple satellite RCL repeaters based on received signal strength. Lastly, the present invention further contemplates the use of an out-of-band transmission to upgrade and test operator control units, thereby allowing for field maintenance and software upgrades.

摘要: There is provided a detection process for a digital radio which receives a multistate baseband signal comprising removing the low frequency information content of the baseband signal and subsequently restoring the low frequency information content to provide a conditioned baseband signal for detection so as to provide automatic frequency control for the radio on a manner avoiding loss of the low frequency information content of the baseband signal. This is accomplished by removing the low frequency information content of the baseband signal by high pass filtering to provide a filtered baseband signal, decoding the filtered baseband signal to provide decoded information signals in digital form, converting the decoded digital information signals to analog information signals, low pass filtering the analog information signals to recover the low frequency information content and adding the low pass filtered analog signal to the baseband signal to provide a conditioned baseband signal for detection wherein the conditioned baseband signal contains the low frequency information content.

摘要: An improved binder for sheet material. The binder includes a cover or backing member formed of paperboard or plastic, and a pair of hinge assemblies are attached to the inner surface of the cover. A standard binding mechanism is interconnected between the hinge assemblies and serves to retain the sheet material. Each hinge assembly includes a metal hinge plate that is secured flatwise to the cover by a plurality of stamped out prongs. Each prong is generally triangular in configuration and is provided with a curved pointed tip. The prongs have a length substantially greater than the thickness of the backing member and when embedded by pressure, the configuration of the prongs causes the prongs to curl within the cover, so that the prongs are completely embedded in the cover and not exposed on the outer surface of the cover.
