摘要: The present invention is an inflatable orthopedic pillow having both a size and shape effective to maintain elevation of one or both of a patient's lower extremities to a position favorable for the reduction of chronic edematous swelling. The shape and construction of the device provides an area effective for the isolation of a patient's foot so that the heel and surrounding area is floating in midair. At the same time, the entire leg is cradled upon an inflated surface which yields to pressure and thus minimizes the formation of secondary ulcers due to prolonged periods of contact of the surrounding tissues with the device.

摘要: Web feed apparatus, for example in web printing and folding apparatus, has a pair of opposing rollers, one (28) on a fixed axis and one (22) laterally movable to define an adjustable nip gap between their peripheries. The gap is automatically set and adjusted by a setting screw (4) driven by a servo motor (60) with rotation of the screw monitors by a potentiometer sensor (64). A stop collar (52) on the screw limits axial displacement thereof to determine the set nip gap and a spring (50) urges the rollers towards each other but permits displacement under overload conditions. A rectilinear sensor (54) senses said conditions by monitoring relative displacement of the stop collar and a programmable control system processes signals from the sensors and operates the servo motor accordingly.

摘要: Apparatus for variably accelerating a rotatable drive member comprises a slotted drive member mounted to rotate a drive shaft. A sun gear has two opposingly situated planet gears mounted to mesh with the sun gear. A driven annular gear rotates the planet gear. Each planet gear includes a cam member mounted to each planet gear off axis relative thereto. The cam members are received in the slotted drive member. As the annular gear is driven with angular velocity omega the cam members travel towards and away from the sun gear as they orbit around the sun gear. This movement causes the rotational movement applied to the drive member to vary between a maximum and a minimum angular velocity. Consequently, it is possible to arrange the apparatus to receive a rapidly moving product and slow it down before delivery onto a conveyor.

摘要: A method is provided of at least partly assembling a light sensor module having at least one light sensing element optically coupled to a further optical element, for receiving light therefrom. The method comprises coupling the at least one light sensing element to an intermediate layer, wherein the intermediate layer is adapted to provide at least a predetermined level of optical coupling between the optical element and the at least one light sensing element when assembled by subsequently coupling, for example as part of a separate method, the intermediate layer to the optical element, with the intermediate layer being arranged between the optical element and the at least one light sensing element. An optical element other than a light sensing element, for example a light source element, can be used in place of the or each light sensing element, with in that case the or each optical element providing light to the further optical element rather than receiving light therefrom. Thus, the method can relate to an optical assembly in general rather than to a light sensor module assembly in particular.

摘要: In order to permit automated setting of operating parameters while also facilitating the removal of paper jams, a device for adjusting the gap size between folding rollers of a rotary press folding machine includes a pair of counter-rotating folding rollers which define a folding nip or gap therebetween. Each folding roller is mounted to one end of a pivoting support arm, and a link arm is slidably and pivotably mounted to the other end. An extensible member connects the link arms to each other, which enables the distance between the rollers to be quickly and easily adjusted. An inflatable bag is disposed between the support arms which forces the rollers towards each other to resist spreading of the rollers when a paper passes through the gap between the rollers. The bag can be quickly deflated from a remote location to allow removal of jammed papers, and can be quickly re-inflated to the desired setting to minimize down time. A control system controlling both the extensible member and the inflatable bag permits rapid adjustment of the folding machine to accommodate changes in paper thickness.

摘要: A wire rack for supporting a box or carton containing a roll of flexible plastic bags with the rack being capable of quick and easy supporting engagement with the upper edge of a trash receptacle, janitorial cart and the like. In one embodiment, the wire rack is curved in a manner to conform with and engage the upper open end of a large waste receptacle of cylindrical configuration. In another embodiment, the wire rack is straight for mounting on the upper end of a maid's or janitor's cart. In both embodiments of the invention, the wire rack includes a locking arrangement by which opposite legs of the rack which straddle the box or carton will lockingly engage with a slotted end of the carton with the inner end of the locking arrangement being inserted into the hollow core on which the roll of plastic bags are wound.
