摘要: A torsional vibration damper has a rotational axis and an annular housing having inner and outer members. The housing has an annular channel in which an inertia member is received. The channel has axially extending walls and is closed by an annular cover plate to retain the inertia member The inner edge of the cover plate is received in a rabbet in the inner channel wall and is joined to the wall by means of a weld. The inner and outer members are connected by an annular weld at a central hub. The weld may extend between two radial extremes which are separated by a distance substantially greater than the thickness of weld. The damper is easier to manufacture and assemble and has greater structural integrity.

摘要: A turbine housing (13) for a radial flow turbine, particularly a turbine used in an exhaust gas turbocharger. The housing has a general volute shape with a substantially annular part extending around the turbine axis and an inlet duct (20) extending therefrom. The inlet duct (20) has a first wall facing part of the outer surface of the annular part of the housing, a pair of spaced webs (44) extending from the outer surface of the circular part of the housing to the first wall, the webs defining a valley (45) therebetween. The arrangement renders the housing stiffer and less prone to fatigue cracking.

摘要: A turbocharger shaft is supported for rotation about its axis in a bearing housing by a pair of floating ring bearings disposed between the shaft and the bearing housing. The floating ring bearings are penetrated in a substantially radial direction by a plurality of apertures to allow the passage of lubricating oil between inner and outer surfaces of the ring. The apertures are arranged at irregular angular intervals around the ring so as to prevent the generation of sub-synchronous vibrations that occur during rotation of the turbocharger shaft. This reduces turbocharger noise and increases life.

摘要: The present invention relates to a device for isolating torque fluctuations of a rotary drive shaft. The device comprises a first member (2) for connection to the drive shaft, a second member (3) for connection to a driven member and an intermediate member (21) interposed between the first and second members. The intermediate member comprises a radially outer ring (22) connected to the first member, a radially inner ring (24) connected to the second member and at least one resilient rolling element (32) in a cavity between the inner and outer rings. The cavity is defined by alignment of at least one pair of recesses (26, 29), one recess being on the radially inner surface of the outer ring and the other recess being on the outer surface of the inner ring, each recess having a ramped surface. Relative rotation of the first and second members causes relative rotation of the inner and outer rings so that the rolling element rotates and compresses.
