摘要:
In a dot matrix line printer in which a plurality of hammer springs mounted along the length of an elongated reciprocating hammerbank are selectively released or fired to impact dot printing impact tips mounted thereon against a print paper through a length of ink ribbon to print dots, the wear that would otherwise occur each time one of the hammer springs rebounds back into contact with a pair of pole pieces against which the hammer spring resides when in its retracted position is greatly minimized by chromium masses plated on the tip of the hammer spring and on the tips of the pole pieces. Chromium platings on each hammer spring are confined to the end of the spring and comprise either a pair of masses adjacent the different pole tips or a single mass encompassing both pole tips. The chromium masses are of convex contour and of hexavalent chromium composition to provide the masses with hard and smooth surfaces that slide over and do not abrade one another upon impacting.

A shaped conductive pattern is located very-close to the top and bottom edges of a print ribbon, e.g., 0.18″ or less, where the conductive pattern is sewn using a partially conductive thread, such as 20% steel and 80% polyester. A two-piece clamp used to sew the conductive feature has shaped opening in both pieces, a peripheral groove surrounding the shaped opening and vertical grooves outside peripheral groove in one piece, and a peripheral tongue surrounding the shaped opening and vertical tongues outside the peripheral tongue in the other piece, where the width of the vertical grooves is larger than the width of the peripheral groove.
摘要:
An ink density closed loop control system for an ink ribbon of an impact printer having a reservoir roller formed of an ink absorbent material with at least one or more channels within the reservoir roller fluidly connected to a pump and ink supply. A transfer roller can contact the reservoir roller for imparting ink to the ink ribbon. A sensor senses the relative amount of ink on the print ribbon and an electrical drive responsive to the sensor drives the pump for a flow of ink to the one or more channels. The sensor can sense ink on different segments of the ribbon and, with two or more channels in the reservoir roller can distribute ink to two or more segments of the reservoir roller depending upon the ink sensed at a particular segment of the ribbon. A further enhancement of this invention provides a multi-viscosity ink to compensate for changes in ambient temperature conditions.
