Abstract:
This invention comprises generally an integral insert for a golf shoe having several raised protuberances extending upwardly from a base shaped to fit on and cover the inner sole of the shoe. The protuberances are resilient and can be made from cellular plastic or elastomer, or can be molded integrally with the base. One protuberance tapers inwardly from the outer edge of the insert and extends from the heel to the end of the toes, and another protuberance tapers inwardly from the inner edge in the middle section.
Abstract:
A method and system for ultrasonically inspecting a ring gear of a gearbox is provided. The method and system can be used for the detection, characterization and/or sizing of defects in the ring gear. The ring gear has a plurality of teeth, which extend radially inward with respect to an outer surface of the gearbox. The method includes the steps of selecting an ultrasonic transducer productive of a test signal, positioning the ultrasonic transducer at an outer surface of the ring gear, orienting the ultrasonic transducer so as to direct the test signal to propagate through the ring gear, and activating the ultrasonic transducer so as to test the ring gear for defects therein.
Abstract:
A brake system and torque feedback controller is provided which utilizes low torque cutout rather than low speed cutout. The low torque cutout is further improved by gradually transitioning between torque feedback and open loop control over a range of torque. The controller allows torque compensation operation to zero wheel speed, and avoids discontinuities in braking regardless of time or torque level. The controller allows a brake to fill and engage the wheel before the full feedback signal is presented to the controller so as to eliminate the phenomena of grabby brakes.

Abstract:
A redundant brake control and anti-skid system is described for providing braking to a vehicle. The system includes a primary brake control assembly for performing brake control and anti-skid functions, and a secondary brake control assembly for performing brake control and anti-skid functions. A bus is provided for enabling communications between the primary brake control assembly and the secondary brake control assembly. At least one brake actuator controlled by the primary brake control assembly and at least one other brake actuator controlled by the secondary brake control assembly are included for providing braking force to wheels of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A brake control system which employs an antiskid control and wheel lock protection differential reference controller to provide antiskid and antilock brake control. The differential reference controller is capable of estimating both wheel velocity and vehicle velocity based on a single wheel speed sensor input. To reduce the effects of wheel speed noise, the differential reference controller estimates the wheel velocity and vehicle velocity by carrying out parallel processes using identical processing functions. The estimated wheel velocity and vehicle velocity are subtracted providing a differential output indicative of the slip velocity. Only unique parameters for each process, derived from physical constants, are different. In this way, the wheel speed noise is introduced into both processes and canceled when the results are subtracted to obtain the slip velocity.
Abstract:
In a system which includes a blower for pnuematically off-loading solid particulate matter from an over-the-road carrier, such as a dry bulk tractor/trailer combination, the blower is integrated into the undercarriage of the tractor. The blower is rigidly suspended below a main frame member of the tractor by a bracket which positions the center of gravity beneath the frame member while maintaining the blower in a vertical position with respect to the undercarriage such that the lowest portion of the blower does not extend below the lowest portion of the undercarriage.
