    摘要: The presently claimed invention discloses a compound body of a wear resistant substrate with a surface coating, which body is suitable for wear parts and tools applications. The body includes top and bottom surfaces and at least one peripheral wall extending therebetween, the intersection of said peripheral wall and at least said top surface forming a cutting edge. The surface coating on said body is a diamond coating of a thickness of 1-30 .mu.m deposited directly from the gas phase in a reactor by CVD or PVD technique in a manner so as to ensure rigid bonding to said carbide substrate. The top face is provided with an integral chipformer so as to provide chips formed during machining into a desired and controllable configuration.

    摘要: An indexable cutting insert for metal machining, in particular turning, is formed with banana- or C-shaped protrusions (11) adjacent to each operative cutting corner. The concave side of the protrusion faces in a direction towards the cutting corner. In comparison with corresponding inserts without such a protrusion a better chip control is achieved. Thus, the chip flow is led away from the machined surface both at small and large cutting depths and the chips are broken into suitable lengths.

    摘要: A tool for chip-removing machining includes a holder on which in indexible cutting insert is mounted. The holder includes a first base surface on which a plurality of male parts are disposed to define an insert seat. The insert includes generally parallel second and third base surfaces, each having a plurality of female parts disposed therein. The insert is invertible such that the female parts of one of the second and third base surfaces receive respective male parts of the holder. A fastener secures the insert on the seat, with the male parts tightly fitted in the female parts. The male parts are flexible relative to the first base surface to ensure a firm abutment of the male parts with surfaces of respective female parts.

    摘要: A turning insert includes corner surfaces each defined by at least five circle segments arranged in succession between adjacent side surfaces. Successive ones of the circle segments have different radii of curvature. The segments include a center or first segment intersected by a bisector of the corner surfaces, second and third segments disposed on respective sides of the first segment, and third and fourth segments disposed adjacent respective sides of said second and third segments, respectively. The first segment defines a first radius. The second and third segments defining equal second and third radii. The fourth and fifth segments defining equal fourth and fifth angles. Each of the fourth and fifth angles is larger than the first radius. The first radius is larger than each of the second and third angles.
