Disclosed herein is a content playback apparatus and method for providing an interactive augmented space. The content playback apparatus includes an augmented space recognition unit and an interaction processing unit. The augmented space recognition unit reconfigures a real space into a virtual space based on one depth image extracted from the real space, matching one or more primitive objects to the virtual space, and projects one or more virtual 3D objects, mapped to the primitive objects and combined with the reconfigured virtual space, onto the real space. The interaction processing unit recognizes one or more gesture interactions of a user related to the virtual 3D objects projected onto the real space and projects the virtual 3D objects onto the real space by incorporating deformations of the virtual 3D objects resulting from the recognized gesture interactions.

Provided are an IPTV remote participation broadcasting system for audience participation and a service providing method thereof. The IPTV remote participation broadcasting system includes an IPTV participation support system and an IPTV head end system. The IPTV participation support system obtains an object picture of a broadcasting master and object pictures of a plurality of participation applicants, and combines the obtained object pictures in a content screen of a virtual environment to generate a real-time participation broadcasting picture in which the participation applicants participate directly. The IPTV head end system receives the real-time participation broadcasting picture to transmit live the real-time participation broadcasting picture, in which the broadcasting master and the participation applicants interact in the content screen of the virtual environment, to user terminals of the participation applicants over an IP communication network.

The present invention provides an image separation apparatus and method. The image separation apparatus includes an image reception unit for receiving an input image. A background model generation unit generates a background model corresponding to the input image. A foreground/background separation unit performs a task of determining using the background model whether reference pixels among all pixels of the input image belong to a foreground or a background, and performs a task of estimating, based on results of the foreground/background determination task, whether remaining pixels other than the reference pixels belong to the foreground or the background.
