Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for improving wireless and other network communications, e.g., through improving resource utilization, which may comprise the steps of accumulating channel modeling information relating to channel performance; calculating a channel parameter threshold based on the accumulated channel modeling information, whereby the channel parameter, as measured, being above the threshold indicates the channel is a good channel; adjusting traffic over a selected good channel to improve performance of the network or a network resource. The network resource may comprises battery life for devices operating on the network, data rate for devices operating on the network, constituting or reconstituting ad hoc networks comprising nodes separated by multiple hops, continuity of connectivity within a single communication link over the network, etc. The apparatus and method of operating the apparatus may also comprise dynamically performing the adjusting step resulting from repeating the calculating step over time.

Abstract: A method for updating display image of an electrophoretic display panel and an electrophoretic display apparatus using the same are provided. In the aforementioned method, the gate lines of the electrophoretic display panel are divided into a first group and a second group. The display data related to pixels coupled to the gate lines of the first group need not to be updated. Furthermore, the display data related to at least one of the pixels coupled to the gate lines of the second group need to be updated. The first type gate pulses are provided to the gate lines of the first group respectively, and second type gate pulses are provided to the gate lines of the second group respectively. The second type gate pulse has a predetermined pulse width. The pulse width of the first type gate pulse is shorter than the predetermined pulse width.

Abstract: An RFID tag monitoring system with multiple reader units each equipped with processing capacity sufficient to enable the unit to operate autonomously under its own command and control as well as to register in its individual memory the identity of all of the items that potentially could be present at any particular time at a zone or zones to which it is assigned as well as the particular zone at which a specific RFID tagged item is found; data compression at the reader units permits timely reporting of inventory to a main computer.
