The present invention provides a magnetic sensor which detects a target substance indirectly by making a labeling substance larger than the target substance bond with the target substance contained in a sample in a detection area, and detecting the labeling substance, comprising a capture area which is relatively easy to capture the target substance, and a non-capture area which is relatively hard to capture the target substance, on a surface of a member which is comprised in a detection area, wherein the capture area is surrounded by the non-capture area. Thereby, the sensor enables to detect comparatively accurately the number and concentration of substances which cannot be directly detected, and enables to be used for detection of various target substances.

A magnetoresistive film includes a nonmagnetic film, and a structure in which magnetic films are formed on the two sides of the nonmagnetic film. At least one of the magnetic films is a perpendicular magnetization film. A magnetic film whose easy axis of magnetization is inclined from a direction perpendicular to the film surface is formed at a position where the magnetic film contacts the perpendicular magnetization film but does not contact the nonmagnetic film. A memory, magnetic element, magnetoresistive element, and magnetic element manufacturing method are also disclosed.

It is intended to provide a supersensitive, quick and accurate method for biochemical analysis. The method includes: adding magnetic fine particles into a solution containing a target substance, whereby a first substance for detection immobilized on the magnetic fine particle is bound to the target substance, while aggregating the magnetic fine particles so as to form an aggregate in the solution; next binding the target substance bound with the magnetic fine particle constituting the aggregate to a second substance for detection on a magnetic sensor layer so as to immobilize the aggregate onto the surface of the magnetic sensor layer; and measuring a magnetic stray field of this aggregate using a magnetic sensor.
