Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body and a detachable unit to be attached to the apparatus body in an attachment direction and detached from the apparatus body in a detachment direction. The detachable unit includes a rotary body and a unit drive gear. The apparatus body includes an apparatus-body drive gear to engage with the unit drive gear of the detachable unit attached in the apparatus body, at an engageable position on a downstream side of the apparatus-body drive gear in the attachment direction. One or each of the unit drive gear and the apparatus-body drive gear moves to a retracted position at which the one or each of the unit drive gear and the apparatus-body drive gear does not engage with the other of the unit drive gear and the apparatus-body drive gear and does not interfere with attachment and detachment operations of the detachable unit.
Abstract:
A cleaning device in accordance with the present disclosure includes a cleaning member to clean toner on an image bearer, a toner conveyor that rotates to convey toner cleaned by the cleaning member, and an agitator that includes a bent portion that is in contact with the toner conveyor, and the agitator vibrates due to the rotation of the toner conveyor. The agitator includes a plurality of arm members, and a first end of a first arm member of the plurality of arm members is attached to a second end of a second arm member of the plurality of arm members.
Abstract:
A process unit includes a rotatable image bearer, an optical writing head to expose the image bearer within an maximum exposure range in an axial direction of the image bearer, a developer bearer, spacers disposed in axial end portions of the image bearer to determine a position of the optical writing head relative to the image bearer and slidingly contact the image bearer, a cleaner disposed downstream from the developer bearer in an image bearer rotation direction, and a remover to slidingly contact the axial end portion of the image bearer to remove a substance adhering thereto. In the axial direction, inner ends of the spacers are positioned inside a toner layer range of the developer bearer extending beyond a largest sheet width. The remover is disposed downstream from the cleaner and crossing a line extending from the inner end of the spacer perpendicularly to the axial direction.
Abstract:
A cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a frame having an opening for exposing the image bearing member; a movable shutter member movable between a closing position for closing the opening and an open position for opening the opening; and a holding portion for abutting to the shutter member to hold the shutter member at the closing position, wherein the shutter member is elastically deformable to ride over the holding portion to permit the shutter member to move from the closing position to the open position.
Abstract:
In a recording and reproducing apparatus, an optical disc is rotated in a rotating direction and an optical system focuses a laser beam on the optical disc to form a beam spot on the optical disc. The optical system is provided with a scanner which deflects the laser beam along a radial direction of the optical disc in such a manner that the beam spot follows a first scan trajectory along a first direction crossing the rotating direction and a second scan trajectory along a second direction different from the first direction. A first data track with a sequence of recording pits along the first scan trajectory is formed and arranged on the optical disc.
Abstract:
An optical recording medium includes a first substrate having a groove on the side of an outer peripheral portion thereof; a second substrate in contact with the first substrate in the outer peripheral portion; and a recording layer being disposed in a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate and forming a void in cooperation with the first substrate at the portion of the groove.
Abstract:
An optical information recording medium in which a inner layer is sandwiched between supporting plates and a number of recording portions formed of a recording material capable of recording information in the form of a hologram are rotatably arranged in the inner layer. The recording portion is rotated by electrifying its surface and an information beam and a reference beam are directed onto it from different angles to carry out angle multiplex recording. The surface of the recording portion is color coded with at least two colors. The color coding and rotation of the recording portions allow characters or images to be displayed. Electronic equipment using such an optical information recording medium is provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a powdery photosensitive material comprising evenly dispersed components and free from a variation in quality, and an optical recording medium produced from the photosensitive material. The photosensitive material is produced by a process including freezing a solution of components that constitutes the photosensitive material dissolved in a first solvent and then drying the resultant solid under reduced-pressure.

Abstract:
An optical-information recording medium includes a substrate that includes a servo surface; an information recording layer laminated on the servo surface of the substrate capable of recording information as a hologram produced by interference between an information beam containing the information and a reference beam; a tracking servo area that is formed in a track direction on the servo surface, and that records therein tracking information for tracking servo control; and a following up servo area that is formed in the track direction on the servo surface, and that is to be irradiated by a beam emitted from an optical-information recording apparatus for recording the information in the information recording layer so as to make the beam follow a rotation of the optical-information recording medium.
