摘要: A vivarium is provided with simplified retention of a top cover. The vivarium has four sidewalls with an upper border frame that extends along the top of the sidewalls. A flange extends laterally from the upper border frame towards the interior, to provide a support surface for the top cover. Slide lock handles are slidably attached to the front edge of the top cover to make it easy to open the top cover, and for securing the top cover in a closed, locked position. The slide lock handles may be slid along the front edge of the top cover to engage the flange and lock the top cover in place. S-clamps are attached to the rear, right, and left edges of the top cover and to the flange extending from the upper border frame to secure the top cover to the vivarium.

The underwater light can include a removable lens cover that is at least one of red, green, yellow, and blue, in order to shine colored light into the pool.

摘要: A float actuated water level control valve has a sliding valve tube depending from a float to meter the amount of water flow through the valve proportionally in response to the position of the float. The valve is especially useful for controlling the water level in an aquarium overflow filter system. The valve inlet has an adjustable flow area which is defined as the area between a lower edge of the sliding valve tube and an upper edge of a drain. The configuration of the lower edge of the sliding valve tube and the upper edge of the drain are selected to provide increased flow area linear to the position of the float. The valve inlet is submerged, and drain gurgling sounds are thereby muffled. In addition, the valve maintains the water level within the reservoir at a height above the valve inlet, which is especially useful for reducing splashing sounds from water spilling over an overflow wall in an aquarium.

摘要: An aquarium overflow filter system having a pre-overflow wall with openings therein improves circulation of water throughout the aquarium tank. The overflow filter system includes an overflow wall that separates the tank into a main aquarium region and a filter intake region. An intake for a wet/dry filter is located within the filter intake region. A pre-overflow wall located outside of the filter intake region encases at least part of the overflow wall to create a mixing chamber therebetween. Openings in the pre-overflow wall allow water to flow through the pre-overflow wall into the mixing chamber. The openings in the pre-overflow wall can be strategically placed to attain a desired circulation pattern within the aquarium. Water pressure at lower openings in the pre-overflow wall tends to move water upward through the mixing chamber, thus water from all the openings eventually flows over the top of the overflow wall into the filter intake region. The invention can be used to improve filtration circulation and the ability to pick up suspended debris off the bottom of the tank. The invention can also provide more natural flow patterns throughout the aquarium.
