A rotation unit of an image processor rotates at least any one of a securing unit for securing an object, an illumination unit for illuminating the object secured by the securing unit, and an image reading unit for reading an image of the object secured by the securing unit. A matching value calculation unit calculates the matching value for matching the image read by the image reading unit and the image in an image storing unit for storing images of objects previously read. A controller controls the rotation by the rotation unit based on the matching value calculated by the matching value calculation unit.

The absorbent core has a core edge. The core edge defines a core region within the core edge and an outer region outside the core region. The body contacting layer and the garment contacting layer extend outward into the outer region and joined together in the outer region. The garment contacting layer may have a graphic printed on the body facing surface or the body contacting layer may have a graphic printed on the garment facing surface. The body contacting layer has a first light transmittance so that the graphic can be seen through the body contacting layer.

A registering apparatus includes: a first image data acquiring unit that acquires first image data from a first region on a recording medium; a second image data acquiring unit that acquires second image data from a second region that includes the first region; a third image data acquiring unit that acquires third image data from a third region that does not include the first region and differs from the second region when a correlation value between the second image data and the first image data is equal to or greater than a predetermined first threshold value; and a registering unit that registers the first image data as registration data that are image data to be used in authentication of the recording medium when a correlation value between the third image data and the first image data is equal to or less than a second threshold value.

An authenticity determination method and an apparatus for determining the authenticity of solid object having a random and readable intrinsic characteristic distributed on the surface thereof are disclosed. In this method and apparatus, reference data expressing the characteristic distributed on the genuine solid object are acquired, and cross-checking data expressing the characteristic distributed on the solid object to be determined for authenticity are derived. Further, on the basis of the reference data and the cross-checking data, correlation values of data expressing the characteristic distributed on either the genuine solid object or the solid objects to be determined for authenticity, with data expressing the characteristic distributed on the other solid object are calculated, and authenticity of the solid object to be determined for authenticity is determined on the basis of the maximum value of the correlation values obtained by the calculation and a characteristic quantity that expresses the shape of the distribution of correlation values obtained by repeating this calculation.

A splice protection heater capable of quickly and efficiently performing a fusion process without an excessive heating time, a fusion splicer including the splice protection heater, and a fusion splicing method are provided. The apparatus has a heating part for heat shrinking a protection sleeve that covers a fusion spliced portion of an optical fiber, a plurality of heating elements that can individually heat a plurality of protection sleeves with different timings by being individually turned ON/OFF by switches, or a heating element turned ON/OFF by a switch. This apparatus may also be provided with detecting section that detects whether or not the protection sleeve is set on the heating element, and turns the switch ON/OFF.

The present invention provides a detection apparatus, an input apparatus, an individual identification apparatus, and a recording medium that utilize information about users' bodies which disables the fraud of impersonating authorized users and is extremely difficult to forge and is obtained without giving the users a sense of inhibitions, without restraining their bodies during use, and independent of their mental states and health. A FIFO memory outputs, as one set of features, a total of 60 voltage values, which are broken down as 20 voltage values sampled every 12.5 ms (80 Hz) before the instant when timing is inputted at the peak position of an amplitude waveform signal generated by one click operation, 39 voltage values sampled every 12.5 ms after the instant, and a voltage value at the peak, and a CPU calculates a feature vector and a feature matrix for individual registration, stores them as personal data in a RAM, and identifies one set of features newly inputted, based on the personal data stored in the RAM.
