Abstract: Disclosed is a diffuser apparatus for facilitating a reduction in fluid pressure and suppression of noise. The apparatus comprises a tubular inner sleeve, a tubular muffler and a tubular outer sleeve. The inner sleeve defines a fluid flow axis and has a plurality of inner sleeve passages. The outer sleeve has the inner sleeve concentrically positioned therein and defines a plurality of outer sleeve passages. The muffler is concentrically positioned between the inner and outer sleeves such that fluid flows radially outwardly through the inner sleeve passages, through the muffler, and through the outer sleeve passages. The muffler may be spaced from the inner sleeve so as to define a gap between the muffler and the inner sleeve. The muffler may also be spaced from the outer sleeve so as to define a gap between the muffler and the outer sleeve.

Abstract: A surge relief valve suitable for high pressure application, for example in a crude oil pumped pipeline. The valve has a plug movable to expose different areas of an energy-absorbing cage trim to fluid flow. The plug position is controlled by a control device proportionately responsive to changes in upstream fluid pressure. The valve requires no external power for its actuation.

Abstract: A valve arrangement comprises a valve housing, a valve seat and a valve plug. The valve housing defines an interior chamber and a flow opening for respectively receiving and discharging fluid. The seat ring is engaged to the valve housing and defines an angled seating surface and a spaced pair of channels positioned between the seating surface and the valve housing. The valve plug is axially slidable within the interior chamber and defines a valve plug seating surface configured at an angle complementary to that of the seat ring seating surface for creating a fluid-tight surface-to-surface seal. The valve plug further defines a spaced pair of projections configured to cooperate with respective ones of the channels such that disengagement of the valve plug seating surface from the seat ring seating surface defines a tortuous fluid path for reducing the velocity of the fluid flowing therethrough.
