摘要: An exhaust system and a method of joining components of an exhaust system comprises obtaining an outer sleeve, a first pipe with a first end, and a second pipe with a second end. The method includes inserting the first end of the first pipe within the outer sleeve to define a first overlap, inserting the second end of the second pipe within the outer sleeve to define a second overlap, and radially inwardly deforming the outer sleeve and the first pipe at the first overlap. The outer sleeve and the second pipe are radially inwardly deformed at the second overlap. The outer sleeve and the first pipe as well as the outer sleeve and the second pipe are pressed into engagement with one another along the length of first overlap and the second overlap to define a pipe joint.

摘要: A catalyst device includes a catalyst, a heating element, and a case. A direction in which exhaust gas flows through an exhaust passage is defined as a gas discharging direction. The case includes an end portion on an upstream side in the gas discharging direction. The heating element includes an end on an upstream side in the gas discharging direction. The end portion of the case is an insulating portion that insulates electricity and protrudes toward an upstream side of the end of the heating element in the gas discharging direction. The catalyst device further includes an outer tube that is separated from the end portion of the case in a radial direction to cover the end portion. The outer tube is formed by a turbine housing that houses a turbine wheel of the forced-induction device.

The second conduit is disposed downstream of the first conduit. The second conduit defines a second flow passageway and is arranged around a second longitudinal axis, the second conduit includes a sidewall and an exit port, the exit port having an exit-port cross-section, wherein the exit-port cross-section is oblong in shape. The second longitudinal axis is disposed at an intersection angle to the first longitudinal axis, the intersection angle in a range of 125° to 150°. The exhaust stack is configured to convey treated exhaust from the skirt portion to the exit port.

摘要: Provided is a method of manufacturing an insulator including disposing first and second covering members, and swaging the first covering member with the second covering member. The first and second covering members each include a groove and flanges including a perforated flange. The second covering member is disposed on the first covering member such that an inner side of the groove of the second covering member faces an inner side of the groove of the first covering member; the flanges of the second covering member are individually placed on the flanges of the first covering member; and a pin retained on a base is inserted through the perforated flange of the second covering member, to thereby fix the second covering member in position. In the swaging, at least the respective perforated flanges of the first and second covering members are swaged with each other with the pin being inserted therethrough.

摘要: Systems, methods, and apparatus are contemplated in which a tube cell that produces a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is individually configured to minimize the mixing of unwanted byproducts of the generated plasma with an exhaust air stream. The tube cell generates a DBD within a tube cell, such that oxidants or radicals are generated in an environment substantially separated from the exhaust stream. The generated oxidants are directed to intersect with the exhaust stream to minimize the generation of unwanted byproducts. The tube cells are further shaped and arranged in tube cell arrays to alter the flow dynamics of the exhaust stream and the oxidant or radical streams, including mixing of the streams.

The exhaust gas flow controlling member is placed so that an open end of the outlet part opposes a central portion of an upstream end plane of the exhaust heat collecting part. The open end of the outlet part and the upstream end plane of the exhaust heat collecting part are a predetermined distance apart.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to an engine system comprising an ICE; an exhaust system; and an engine control unit for controlling operation of the engine system between at least a first operating state resulting in a first exhaust temperature range, and a second operating state resulting in a second, higher, exhaust temperature range. The exhaust system comprises a low frequency sound attenuation portion including a first tubing section having a first flow area; a second tubing section, having a second flow area smaller than the first flow area; and a third tubing section having a third flow area greater than the second flow area. The low frequency sound attenuation portion is dimensioned to achieve laminar flow through the third tubing section when the engine system is in the first operating state; and turbulent flow through the third tubing section when the engine system is in the second operating state.
