    摘要: The invention concerns a system suited for carrying out eddy current measurements on components for nuclear reactors when these components are located in water. The system comprises a control unit, a measurement probe and a first cable suited to constitute at least a part of the connection between the control unit and the measurement probe. The system also comprises a switching unit, suited to be located in water and arranged to be connected with said first cable, and to be connected with the measurement probe. The switching unit has a switching device which can assume at least a first and a second state. In the first state, the first cable is connected with the measurement probe. In the second state, the first cable is not connected with the measurement probe. The invention also concerns the use of the system.

    摘要: The invention features brachytherapy applicators for delivering radioactive seeds to a patient. Specifically, the invention provides brachytherapy applicators in which a seed magazine is removably held within a chuck by a magazine retaining structure. The magazine retaining structures described herein are designed such that a seed magazine can be readily inserted into or removed from a brachytherapy applicator. In addition, magazine retaining structures are designed such that they will not become jammed, even when blood cells or other particles enter the applicator during a brachytherapy procedure and become lodged near the seed magazine and the magazine retaining structure.

    摘要: An improved internal combustion engine is disclosed. The disclosed engine comprises several preferred embodiments, each including a first piston reciprocating in a first cylinder along a first axis, a second piston reciprocating in a second cylinder along a second axis, said second axis being orthagonal to said first axis, and a flying crankshaft orbiting around a third axis, said third axis being orthagonal to said first and second axis'. Also disclosed are two opposing piston-pairs, reciprocating in cylinders along said first and second axis', each piston in a pair connected to the other piston by a connecting means further defined by a crank aperture within which said flying crankshaft orbits. The disclosed engine further may include at least one ring bearing and/or at least one ring gear within which said crankshaft orbits. This disclosed configuration dynamically dissipates substantially all of the side load forces between the pistons and cylinders created by combustion, as well as efficiently captures the inertia and centrifugal forces created by the pistons and associated members. As disclosed, the present invention will provide an internal combustion engine or the like which is more efficient and reduces piston and cylinder wear. The disclosed engine is lightweight, compact, and dynamically balanced. The present invention discloses embodiments comprising both intersecting and non-intersecting cylinder axis', and further embodiments having 2, 3 or 4 pistons.
