Abstract:
There is disclosed a foam control composition comprising (I) a silicone defoamer reaction product and (II) a silicone glycol copolymer, which composition is particularly effective in defoaming highly acidic or highly basic aqueous systems. Component (I) is prepared by heating a mixture of (i) a polyorganosiloxane fluid, (ii) a resinous silicon compound, (iii) a finely divided filler and (iv) a catalytic amount of a compound for promoting the reaction of the other components at a temperature of 50.degree. C. to 300.degree. C.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a herbicide composition in which a postemergent herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol adjuvant consisting essentially of (i) a silicone glycol having an average of 4 or 5 ethylene oxide units in its glycol chain and (ii) a silicone glycol dispersant compound for component (i). The composition provides enhanced phytotoxicity in the control of weeds, particularly velvetleaf plants, and shows an improved degree of rainfastness relative to prior art compositions.
Abstract:
What is disclosed is a process for obtaining polyurethane foams having enhanced benefits. The invention disclosed herein provides a system flowability of the reacting foam mixture to give foams with an insulating capablity equal to the foams that are provided by chlorofluorocarbon blown system, while doing away with the chlorofluorocarbons.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a herbicidal composition in which a foliar-applied herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol-silicone alkane terpolymer adjuvant. The composition provides enhanced phytotoxicity in the control of narrowleaf weeds, particularly Barnyardgrass, Quackgrass and Johnsongrass, and often also shows an improved degree of rainfastness relative to similar herbicidal compositions employing prior art silicone glycol adjuvants.
Abstract:
New granular detergent compositions suitable for heavy duty laundry and automatic dishwashing applications are disclosed. The detergents contain organic surfactant combined with a siliconate-silicate product that provides the compositions with improved dissolution characteristics in water. The siliconate-silicate component contains silicate units and anionic functional organosiliconate units represented by the formula (MO).sub.a O.sub.(3-a)/2 Si--R--Y.sub.b wherein Y represents the anionic functional group, R is an organic linking group, b is an integer from 1 to 3, a has a value of from 0.5 to 2, and M is hydrogen or alkali metal.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a herbicide composition in which a postemergent herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol adjuvant consisting essentially of (i) a silicone glycol having an average structure ##STR1## wherein Me denotes a methyl radical, and (ii) a silicone glycol dispersant compound for component (i). When compared to similar prior art silicone glycol adjuvants not having an acetoxy terminated glycol chain, the compositions of the present invention provide enhanced rainfastness in the control of weeds, particularly velvetleaf plants.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a foam control composition comprising (I) a silicone defoamer reaction product and (II) a silicone glycol copolymer, which composition is particularly effective in defoaming highly acidic or highly basic aqueous systems. The compositions of the present invention can further comprise (III) a finely divided filler, and/or (IV) a trimethylsilyl or hydroxyl endblocked polyorganosiloxane.
Abstract:
An improved process is provided for the preparation of siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant compositions which utilize a hydrosilylation reaction with a phenyl ether as the reaction solvent and the use of a phenyl ether as a cold blend additive. Ethylene glycol phenyl ether is the preferred reaction solvent or cold blend additive.
Abstract:
An improved process is provided for the preparation of siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant compositions which utilize a hydrosilylation reaction with a phenyl ether as the reaction solvent. The reaction solvent need not be removed from the block copolymer, particularly when the block copolymer is used as a surfactant for polyurethane foam formulations. Ethylene glycol phenyl ether is the preferred reaction solvent.
