摘要: An optomechanical mounting includes an upper spring assembly and a lower spring assembly that support and secure a sphere containing an optical element. The materials in the mounting have the same or nearly the same CTEs and spring assemblies provide opposing radial forces so that thermal expansions are compensated, giving the mounting superior thermal stability. Frictional forces on the sphere from the upper and lower spring assemblies maintain the orientation of the sphere (and the optical element) during operation, but smooth surfaces of the sphere and springs still permit sensitive, precision rotation of sphere for alignment without post-alignment clamping of the sphere. The spring assemblies can be ring-shaped to permit an opening through the spring assembly to the sphere for light paths or for tools that adjust the alignment of the sphere.

摘要: A pin holder support is provided which is suitable for external bone fixation utilizing pins inserted into bone. The device comprises a clamp for gripping the bone pins a deflection member, and a jaw which positions the device along a fixation bar. The deflection member is situated between the clamp and the jaw and has on one face, a rotation means for cooperation with a complementary means of the clamp or of the jaw such that the combination ensures rotatability of the clamp with respect to the jaw and, on its opposite face, a curved guide means for cooperation with a complementary curved means of the other of the jaw or of the clamp, respectively, so as to ensure ability of the clamp to swivel with respect to the jaw.

摘要: Means for assembling tubular scaffolding elements comprising an annulus (31) having radial arms (33) and being fixed on a vertical tubular element (32), a bracket or cap (34) engaged on a radial arm and locked by means of a key (35). Annulus (31) is shaped like a star and each radial arm (33) comprises a V-shaped radial clearance (36) and bosses (37,38,39), the sides of which are designed as steps to support the front end of the bracket or cap and are joined to the corresponding radial tubular element (42). The support steps are provided on the upper and lower sides (43,44) of each arm and are of a width and thickness to provide substantial seating to the end of the bracket and directional stability to the radial tubular element both in a vertical and a horizontal plane during the assembly keying operation.

摘要: A stopper made of molded synthetic material comprises a domeshaped head and a hollow cylindrical body depending therefrom, the said body being closed at its lower end. The periphery of the body is provided with annular protruding ribs which coact with the inside of the bottle neck to insure fluid-tightness and these ribs are of substantially sinusoidal shape, each comprising an even number of undulations or wave lengths. With such an arrangement, if the neck has a zone of somewhat restricted diameter and/or of somewhat non-circular cross-section, as such is often the case with bottles for sparkling beverages, the stopper may nevertheless be easily extracted from the bottle by rotating it within the neck while it is submitted to a pulling force.

摘要: A method assigns importance ranks to documents within repositories or databases, such as any database of documents such as books or other printed material, electronic documentation, and pages within the world-wide web. The method uses a corpus of indexed documents that has been annotated to the terms of one or more ontologies in order to assign a semantic similarity score to queries based on terms taken from the ontologies. A statistical model is used to test the significance of matches between query terms and documents or categories. The method results in an acceleration of over 10,000-fold for realistic queries and ontologies, and makes it practicable to calculate P-values dynamically or to keep database annotations and the related P-value distributions up to date by frequent recalculation.

摘要: An apparatus for brewing hot beverages, such as coffee, comprising a water reservoir, a heating element for heating water in the water reservoir, an extraction device, an electric pump and a thermostat for the detection of the temperature of the water in the reservoir. The thermostat is connected in series with the heating element and the pump is connected in parallel with the thermostat. After the water has reached the desired temperature the thermostat is closed, which causes the pump to be switched on in order to pump the hot water to the extraction device. During the pumping phase the power of the heating element is virtually cut off.
