Abstract:
There is provided a user-friendly multiple function peripheral apparatus which eliminates a wasteful data process in the apparatus even when a color scan start key is pressed. This invention provides a multiple function peripheral apparatus including a scanner unit having monochrome and color scanner functions, a facsimile transmission unit having only a monochrome facsimile transmission function, a color scan start key which instructs the scanner unit to execute color scan, a monochrome scan start key which instructs the scanner unit to execute monochrome scan, and a facsimile transmission control unit which controls operation of the facsimile transmission unit on the basis of a condition of correspondence set in advance between the color scan start key and the monochrome facsimile function when facsimile transmission is instructed with the color scan start key.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus capable of performing operation-checking and an operation for clearing a counter value for a replaced component at component replacement with a simple manipulation, and simple in construction and low in costs. After criterion values for jam detection by a recording-sheet-conveyance-state detection unit that detects sheet feed jam and/or conveyance jam are changed to new component judgment criterion values, whether a roller component has been replaced by a new roller is determined. When replacement to a new roller is determined, a counter value of a life counter for counting the number of times of use of a roller component for detection of replacement time is cleared.
Abstract:
This invention easily and appropriately accesses a USB memory in accordance with a request from a PC on a network. To accomplish this, this invention has a USB host interface, USB device interface, and network interface, and includes a network manager 202 which inputs, via the network interface, a file access command which requests access to a memory card connected to the USB host interface, a memory manager 203 which inputs the file access command generated inside an apparatus, a file access controller 204 which performs exclusive access control between the file access command input by the network manager 202, and the file access command input by the memory manager 203, a SCSI analyzer 206 which converts the file access command selected by the exclusive access control by the file access controller 204 into a SCSI command, and a memory card access controller 209 which performs exclusive access control between the SCSI command generated by the conversion, and a SCSI command which is input via the USB device interface and requests access to the memory card.
Abstract:
This invention increases the design efficiency of an upper layer such as a job control means. To accomplish this, an image processing apparatus having a plurality of types of external interfaces (a USB and LAN) different in protocol has an external interface adaptor 203 which dynamically allocates external interfaces as objects of processing to lower layer IDs within a predetermined range, and a job controller 202 which controls execution of various types of jobs by using the lower layer IDs, and a value which the lower layer ID can take is constant regardless of the type of external interface.
Abstract:
This invention efficiently implements encoding processes corresponding to respective image processing functions while minimizing the memory use size in the apparatus in an image processing apparatus having many image processing functions. A data processing apparatus of this invention includes a data reception unit for receiving at least data of a first format for respective pages, a data conversion unit for converting the data of the first format into data of a second format, a page data management unit for managing the data of the first and second formats in first and second page data in association with each other, and a control unit for monitoring a storage state of the data of the first format in the memory, and permitting a predetermined process for the data of the first format in accordance with the storage state. When the control unit determines that storage of the data of the first format in the memory is complete, the control unit permits the data conversion unit to start a data conversion operation from the first format to the second format. Also, the control unit monitors completion of the conversion operation of the data conversion unit and a storage state of the data of the second format in the memory, and permits a predetermined process for the data of the second format in accordance with the storage state.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an image forming apparatus connectable to a plurality of external apparatuses via a network, comprising: an acquisition unit that acquires, from the respective external apparatuses, pieces of copy setting information which are generated in the respective external apparatuses, the copy setting information designating apparatuses for scanning and apparatuses for printing; a determination unit that determines, by referring to the pieces of copy setting information acquired by the acquisition unit, whether or not each copy setting information designates the image forming apparatus as the apparatus for printing; and a display control unit that identifiably displays, on a display unit, copy setting information which is determined by the determination unit to designate the image forming apparatus as the apparatus for printing.
