A relay apparatus (10) is provided with a first signal transmitting device compliant with one second signal transmitting device compliant with another standard, a first obtaining device, a second obtaining device, a generating device and a controlling device. If the relay apparatus is connected to an output apparatus via the first signal transmitting device and is connected to a first unit via the second signal transmitting device, the first obtaining device obtains first information about the first unit; a second obtaining device obtains second information about a second unit connected to the output apparatus; a generating device generates third information that allows selection and operation of each of first and second units, on the basis of first and second information, and transmits the third information to the output apparatus; and a controlling device controls the first unit according to a command signal outputted from the output apparatus.

A broadcast receiver which can receive broadcast by directly selecting a discretionary broadcast station from all the receivable broadcast stations. The broadcast receiver is provided with a broadcast receiving section having broadcast station searching means for searching a carrier frequency of the receivable broadcast station. The receivable carrier frequencies searched by the broadcast station searching means are displayed as a list of broadcast station information on a display section, a specification from the list of broadcast station information displayed on the display section is accepted by operation of an operating section, and broadcast of the carrier frequency corresponding to the accepted specification is permitted to be received by the broadcast receiving section.

A video signal processing apparatus capable of improving signal level while reducing noise component no matter a video signal of what illuminance is input is provided, which apparatus includes a video signal amplifying circuit amplifying an input video signal and outputting a video signal of a predetermined image size in accordance with a gain control coefficient, a frame addition circuit connected to the video signal amplifying circuit for adding outputs of the video signal amplifying circuit by a predetermined number of frames, a first signal level detecting circuit connected to the video signal amplifying circuit and calculating the gain control coefficient and a multiplication coefficient in accordance with an output of the video signal amplifying circuit, and a first multiplier connected to the frame addition circuit and the first signal level detecting circuit and receiving as inputs an output of the frame addition circuit and the multiplication coefficient.

A peripheral control system enhances expandability in the operation of peripheral by enabling the customization and display of operation panels for each of the peripherals, regardless of whether any operation panel exists at the display device side. The peripheral control system is configured by connecting a TV and a recorder via an HDMI connection. The TV stores operation panel information that includes array information for arraying, on the screen, image data of the operation buttons that comprise the operation panel of the recorder. The recorder stores image data of the operation buttons, and sends, according to operation panel information obtained from the TV, the aforementioned stored image data of the operation buttons in association with the array information to the TV. The TV disposes and displays image data of the operation buttons sent from the recorder, at a position that is in accordance with the array information.
Abstract:
A media selecting device enabling a user to easily select any desired one of a plurality of selectable media. The media selecting device according to the present invention can easily select any one of a plurality of hierarchically-related icons by turning a rotary disk-type knob. The user presses a first change-over button to access the icon selected by the disk-type knob, and to display icons of a lower hierarchical layer or to display a deciding medium represented by icons. The user can press a second change-over button to cancel the selected icon, and to display icons of an upper hierarchical layer. Furthermore, the displayed icons have different three-dimensional shape and location information, and are disposed in a three-dimensional virtual space, thus increasing visibility and control of the device.

An image processing system, including a main CPU, a main storage, a three-dimensional image processor and a CRT for a display unit. The system further includes a system bus that connects the main CPU with the three-dimensional image processor to perform data transfer. In a preferred embodiment, the three-dimensional image processor also includes a command analyzer, a model data accumulating memory, a coordinate transformation processor, a viewing transforming circuit, a texture processing circuit and an image memory and video control circuit. The image processing system of the present invention makes it possible to reduce a load on the main CPU, which shortens data transfer time and thereby improves processing speed of the system.

A frame memory device for graphics includes a frame memory made up of a pair of memories and a memory controller for controlling the frame memory and is able to smoothly access the frame memory and is improved in its rendering speed. Each memory is logically divided into two banks A and B. Addresses in the thus divided bank are arranged in a checker pattern. The memory controller simultaneously selects bank addresses horizontally and vertically adjacent to a bank address currently being accessed.
