The further computer compares the performance of at least one machine with the performance of further machines, and the further computer calculates improved settings for at least one of the machines on the basis of the performance comparison and provides the settings for the purpose of setting the machine.

摘要： An apparatus includes a mobile control device for safe operation of machines for processing printing materials. The machine is divided into a plurality of spatially delimited zones and the position of the control device can be detected in relation to the plurality of zones. It is possible to determine the zone in which the control device is located by using the position of the control device. Certain functions of the machine are enabled or disabled depending on the determined zone. A printing press having the device and a method for safely operating a machine for processing printing materials, are also provided.
