A chair-type massage machine has a seat, a backrest part, and a treatment mechanism that is provided in the backrest part so as to able to move up and down, and the treatment mechanism comprises: a treatment arm having a treatment element at substantially a tip end thereof; a massage power selection mechanism for adjusting massage strength by displacing the treatment arm between a weak state in which the treatment arm is substantially parallel to a backrest face of the backrest part and a strong state in which the treatment arm is erected substantially perpendicular to the backrest face; and a push-out member that is provided closer to a base end side than the treatment element of the treatment arm and is positioned below the treatment element when the treatment arm is in the strong state.

A pressure-sensing massage machine that resolves the problems of difficult assembly and adjustment and the occurrence of operational errors common to a sensing mechanism that uses many components and devices. The massage machine of the present invention is able to monitor the pressure applied to the massage recipient by a motor-driven movably extending massaging member. A flexible member is provided in the transmission located between the massage member and the motor that drives the massage member, and a pressure sensing mechanism monitors the pressure applied to the massage recipient through the flexible displacement of the flexible member.
Abstract:
A massaging apparatus has a capability of self-adjusting a massage strength for giving an optimum massaging effect for individual users. The apparatus includes a supporting frame on which a user rest and an applicator projecting from the supporting frame to be pressed against a user's body. The applicator is driven to move for applying a massaging force to the user's body. A pressure sensor is provided to monitor a pressure applied back to the applicator from the user's body as a counter-action of applying the massaging force to the user's body and to provide an output indicative of the monitored pressure. A strength-adjustor is included to vary a projecting amount of the applicator from the supporting frame and/or an operational speed of moving the applicator in order to adjust a massage strength applied to the user's body. The massaging apparatus is characterized to include an auto-controller which is connected to receive the output from the pressure sensor and actuates the strength-adjustor in order to increase and decrease the massage strength in such a manner as to follow the monitored pressure. Whereby, the apparatus is enabled to self-adjust the massage strength in proportion to a force at which the user has its back or desired portion pressed against the applicator.

A controller holds individual speed data each defining a speed at which each of the driving units reciprocates the applicator along each of the different axes, and to control the driving units to reciprocate the applicator in accordance with the associated speed data. The controller controls the speed of the applicator along one of the axes independently from the speed of the applicator moving along another of the axes. Accordingly, the applicator's movements along the different axes can be free from being interfered with each other even being subject to a load, thereby assuring to continue the combined massaging action.

In a lounger-type massage machine, a back support is reclinable relative to a seat. There is provided a leg rest which is movable between a retracted position where the leg rest is retracted to be held below the seat and a projected position where the leg rest is extended outwardly in front of the seat. A sheet is extended to cover the seat and the leg rest. There is provided a looseness prevention mechanism which pulls an end of the sheet inwardly so as to prevent the loosening of the sheet in both the retracted position and the projected position of the leg rest.

A massage machine comprises a drive shaft rotatably driven in forward and reverse directions; a pair of inclined shafts mounted on both ends of the drive shaft so as to have an arbitrary inclination relative to an axial direction of the drive shaft; a pair of left and right massage ball units including massage balls and rotatably connected to outer peripheral surfaces of the pair of inclined shafts, respectively; and switching means for switching an axial rotation position of one inclined shaft of the pair of inclined shafts. The massage ball units each comprise a swing arm having one end rotatably connected to the outer peripheral surface of the inclined shaft; and a support arm connected to the other end of the swing arm and having mounted thereon multiple massage balls at a vertical distance from each other. Thus, according to the massage machine, the distance from the drive shaft to the massage balls is large because of the presence of the swing arms, while the moving range of the massage balls is large because the upper and lower massage balls mounted on each support arm move in the same direction, so that a person to be treated can have great massage feeling.
