摘要： When an electronic instrument has taken a predetermined attitude, an attitude-detecting switch incorporated in the instrument detects the attitude, and outputs a switch signal to a CPU. The CPU, in turn, drives a lighting device for lighting a liquid crystal display device. The lighting device is driven, for example, only when a predetermined number of pulses of the switch signal are generated within a predetermined period of time, or only when the switch signal has continued for a predetermined period of time or more. Thus, there are cases where the lighting device is not driven irrespective of the generation of the switch signal. As a result, the lighting device is prevented from operating so often, and hence the life of its battery is lengthened.

摘要： The present invention relates to a position data/display control apparatus and method which uses received position data to display data on the present position. A user selects the nearest area to the user's present position, as determined from received position data, from a storage means which stores a plurality of area names and data for measurement of positions in areas corresponding to the area names. Upon selection, the present position data is converted to position data suitable for measurement of the user's present position based on the data for measurement of a position in an area corresponding to the selected area name. The converted position data is then displayed to the user. Advantageously, a user's present position is displayed relative to the geodetic system in the area corresponding to the selected area name.

摘要： An electronic device with multiple functions has a base case provided with an input key unit on an upper surface and a plurality of openable cases which are openably mounted on the base case so as to be freely open and closed. The base case has an arced guide thereon. The openable cases are arranged so as to be stacked on the base case when closed. One of the openable cases has a moving member which is movably engaged with the arced guide for connecting the openable case to the base case. The openable cases each are provided with an electro-optical display unit on a rear surface. The openable cases except the outermost openable case each are provided with an input key unit on an upper surface. Data entered through the input key unit provided on the selected one of the openable cases is displayed on the electro-optical display unit on the openable case which is disposed next and upper to the selected openable case, whereby the input key unit and the electro-optical display unit are used which are suitable for a particular function. A detector is provided for detecting the open position of the one case with the moving member thereon, and the display thereof is controlled in accordance with the detected position.

摘要： A footwear of the present invention is provided with tank chambers which are disposed to be in contact with an instep, sole and ankle of the user for applying pressure thereto to protect his foot from shocks. The tank chambers are filled with air and air pressure within the tank chambers can be adjusted. The footwear is further provided with a pressure sensor for measuring air pressure within the tank chambers to generate a pressure signal, and a pressure data displaying device for indicating pressure data on the basis of the pressure signal generated by the pressure sensor. Therefore, the user can make sure on the pressure data display device a pressure level at which the most suitable pressure for his foot is obtained. The user is also allowed to extremely easily adjust the air pressure at the above pressure level, watching an indication on the pressure data display device.

摘要： Only one pressure sensor is employed in a compact measuring apparatus for measuring both depths of water and altitude. A pressure-data generator generates pressure data corresponding to a pressure applied to the single pressure sensor. A water-depth data converter converts this pressure data into water-depth data. An altitude-data converter converts this pressure data into altitude data. The water-depth data and the altitude data are visually displayed on the compact measuring apparatus.
