    摘要: The arrangement comprises an earth raise borer stem which is formed with a tapered surface, near one terminal end thereof, for slidably engaging and forming an interference fit with a similarly tapered collar within the center of a cutterhead. The stem further has, at the lowermost end thereof, according to one embodiment, a bolted-on flange plate which has a series of rectangular cutouts formed therein. The cutouts receive lugs which are also bolted onto a lowermost surface of the cutterhead. The cooperating tapered surfaces of the collar and the stem cooperate to react thrust and torque which is impressed through the stem to the cutterhead and the cutout flange plate impresses rotary torque onto the cutterhead by means of the lugs. The arrangement provides a simple and facile arrangement for replaceably coupling a stem and cutterhead. Coupling bolts are employed to insure and retain the interference fit, and also (by means not shown) can further be employed, as jacking bolts, to facilitate disassembly of the stem from the cutterhead. The cooperating tapered surfaces include an annular channel which has a conduit opening thereonto for the supply of hydraulic fluid under pressure to enable a break out or disassembly of the stem and cutterhead.

    摘要: A valve assembly for a faucet is operated by an actuation lever(s) normally positioned to be engaged by a container, for example, into which water is to be discharged from the faucet. For normal operation the lever(s) is moved in a self-return range of about 10 to 50 degrees. The lever(s) can also be swung further to a fully-on position so that the faucet can function in the normal manner by its valve system. The lever(s) operate a cam which acts on a cam follower presented by a valve stem. Responsive axial movement of the valve stem in opposition to spring pressure opens a valve.

    摘要: A method for cleaning inlet mixers while they remain in their operating position within a nuclear reactor. A water-powered cleaning tool is inserted by remote control into the inlet mixer via a secondary inlet opening. Following insertion of the cleaning tool, the internal surfaces of the inlet mixer are cleaned with a waterjet created from an ultra-high-pressure source and directed by controlled positioning of a cleaning head having an nozzle which scans the cleaning waterjet across the surface to be cleaned. The cleaning system for carrying out the method includes a nozzle cleaning tool, a throat/barrel/flare cleaning tool, pumping systems for supplying ultra-high-pressure equal to at least 20,000 psi and low-pressure water to an installed cleaning tool, a launching system located at the top of the opened reactor vessel for feeding the water conduits (power), control cables, monitoring cables (instrument) and cleaning tool into and out of the inlet mixer, and a computerized process monitoring and control system.

    摘要: A dual conduit drill string used in drilling holes for geothermal, oil and gas wells, and the like, comprises a removable inner conduit to permit the use of salvage or repair equipment within the outer conduit. The outer conduit comprises standard API drill pipe sections which are each slightly modified to receive the removable inner conduit sections. Each inner conduit section is provided with flexible hangers for suspending the weight of the inner conduit from a support ledge formed on the interior surface of the drill pipe. The hangers permit upward removal motion and rotation of the inner conduit with respect to the drill pipe, but prevent downward motion. Individual inner conduit sections are joined together at lockable stab joints in which locking is accomplished by the rotatable engagement of a key and locking socket. Preferably, the inner conduit is manufactured in uniform lengths and mounted in drill pipe sections of non-uniform lengths by means of drill pipe adaptor subs. In addition, a removal tool can be used to remove the inner conduit from the drill pipe by engaging the hangers of the lowest inner conduit.

Dimensions are chosen to provide adequate restraint without the need to force the orifice onto the spring disk.
