摘要: A hearing aid includes a microphone to convert audible sounds into sound-related electrical signals and a memory configured to store a plurality of hearing aid profiles. Each hearing aid profile has an associated audio label. The hearing aid further includes a processor coupled to the microphone and to the memory and configured to select one of the plurality of hearing aid profiles. The processor applies the one of the plurality of hearing aid profiles to the sound-related electrical signals to produce a shaped output signal to compensate for a hearing impairment of a user. The processor is configured to insert the associated audio label into the shaped output signal. The hearing aid also includes a speaker coupled to the processor and configured to convert the shaped output signal into an audible sound.

摘要: A data communication transmitting node is provided, the transmitting node comprising: a plurality of buffers for storing data from a respective plurality of input data streams; means for monitoring an occupancy level of each of the plurality of buffers to detect if the occupancy level is sufficient to provide a complete data block to the transmission stream; and a transmission controller operable to select, in turn, a buffer from the plurality of buffers to output a data block to a transmission data stream, the selection being performed according to a buffer selection order. If the buffer selected by the transmission controller is detected to have an insufficient occupancy level when selected, a dummy data block is supplied to the data transmission stream in place of a data block from the selected buffer.

摘要: Operation of gas turbine engines and in particular gas turbine engines utilised for aircraft, in an efficient manner is a desired objective. Thus engine efficiency is typically determined through use of an engine performance parameter. One such engine performance parameter is with regard to specific fuel consumption. However, such parameters may vary as a result of inherent deterioration with regard to the engine. By utilising a computational model to determine variations in the performance parameter such as the specific fuel consumption changes as a result of such inherent engine degradation can be accommodate. Thus, such degradation may not swamp actual changes in fuel consumption or the engine performance parameter which are indicative of changes of engine efficiency. Generally and initially, computational results are utilised in order to provide a value with regard to degradation changes in the performance parameter, but such changes may be augmented by practical test results in order to tune the off-set constants a, b for an individual engine.

摘要: A computer system having at least primary and secondary partitions, a primary write filter for write-protecting the primary partition, and a state machine. The state machine, in response to a need to write persistent data to the primary partition, boots to the secondary partition, disables the primary write filter, boots to the primary partition, writes persistent data to the primary partition, re-enables the primary write filter, and then reboots to the primary partition.
