The beacon device can transmit a directed light signal via the directed light emitters. The system further includes a tag including a processor, a radio frequency transmitter coupled to the processor, a directed light receiver coupled to the processor, and a lens having first and second major surfaces and a side surface, the tag to receive the directed light signal via the side surface and to transmit a radio frequency tag message via the radio frequency transmitter. The system also includes a radio frequency reader to receive the radio frequency tag message.

The method includes sending an unsolicited-type message from a client program resident on the monitoring device coupled to a first secure network. The unsolicited-type message is sent to a computing system coupled to a second network separated from the first secure network by a firewall. The method also includes receiving a response message to the unsolicited-type message from the computing system. The response message includes an embedded unsolicited-type message. The client program is resident on the monitoring device receiving the response message. The method further includes providing the embedded unsolicited-type message to a server program resident on the monitoring device.

摘要： A method and system for providing access to a protected partition of a direct access storage device in a data processing system which includes a direct access storage device, an adapter that commands I/O of the storage device and also contains a protection mechanism that restricts access to a memory partition on the storage device, an adapter device driver for controlling the adapter, and a system block device driver for transferring I/O commands to the system partition from the operating system to the adapter device driver. The method comprises the steps of receiving a request to perform a read or write to a protected memory partition, generating a command data block directing the storage device to perform the read or write, and generating a passthru command containing the command data block that directs the adapter to send the command data block without enforcing the protection of the memory partition. The method continues by sending the passthru command to the adapter which then passes the command data block on to the storage device to be executed without enforcing the memory partition protection.

摘要： A plurality of tags communicates a plurality of messages to a reader device. A message collector at the reader device collects at least a subset of the received messages, and provides the collected messages to a set of logical readers. The message collector and the logical readers filter the collected messages based on configuration information provided by an associated application, and provide tag event information to the application based on the filtered messages. The reader device can be configured based on customized configuration information, so that the tag event information provided to an application is customized for that application.
