C. to approximately 70.degree. C. while the reaction is carried out.

To develop a zeolite catalyst which can prevent the drastic lowering of dimethylamine selectivity to be caused in the production of dimethylamine using a zeolite catalyst when the conversion of methanol is high, and which can give higher dimethylamine selectivity and lower trimethylamine selectivity as well as higher methanol-consuming reaction activity; and to provide a process for producing dimethylamine with high selectivity, using the catalyst. Processed foods made of iodine-enriched wheat flour contain 0.05 mg to 40 mg of iodine per 100 g of wheat flour. The iodine is provided by blending small quantities of residues of extracts from sea weeds in the Laminaria group into wheat flour used for the production of such processed foods as bread, cakes, cookies, noodles, and the like. It is possible to intake essential iodine easily without any sense of incongruity.

A process for the selective production of dimethylamine in preference to mono- and trimethylamines by a catalytic vapor phase reaction of ammonia and methanol over a zeolite selected from mordenite, clinoptilolite and erionite is disclosed, wherein the improvement is characterized by the fact that the zeolite used has been contacted with steam at a temperature of 250.degree. to 700.degree. C.
