    摘要: A method of forming an image includes causing a material, that increases a viscosity of liquid drops by contact with the liquid drops, to adhere to a transfer medium, causing a liquid drop to contact the material according to an image signal such that an image is formed with the liquid drop having been increased in viscosity by contact with the material, and transferring the image to a recording medium. The viscosity of the liquid drop when increased on the transfer medium by contact with the material is set such that the liquid drop adheres to the recording medium without being divided into a part remaining on the transfer medium and another part being transferred to the recording medium. By the above-described image forming method, good image transfer is realized and thereby an image having no blotting is obtained.

    摘要: An image transfer system includes an image bearing member made of a photoconductive layer and an electrically conductive backing layer, a current detector connected between the backing layer and ground, a transfer corona unit for applying corona ions to a back side of a transfer sheet brought into contact with the exposed surface of the photoconductive layer on which a toner image is carried, a power supply for applying power to the corona unit, and a controller for controlling the power supply in response to a current level detected by the current detector. This system maintains the image transfer efficiency substantially at a constant level irrespective of the condition of transfer sheet used, and in particular to the water content of the sheet.

    摘要: An electrophotographic color image forming process wherein three light beams each representing image information of one of three primary colors or yellow, magenta and cyan of a color document to be recorded obtained by color separation are projected against an electrophotographic photosensitive member to form electrostatic latent images which are developed by toners of the three different colors, respectively, and printed by transfer-printing, to record a color image. The image information of three colors is simultaneously written to a surface of the photosensitive member as three scanning lines either by successively writing a plurality of sets of three scanning lines each representing image information of one color or by writing image information of different colors of the same set separately in three different zones, so that the scanning lines representing image information of different colors form a repeating series of three stripes of different colors. The electrostatic latent images formed on the scanning lines are excited in positions immediately before developing sections of respective colors and developed by the toners of respective colors to produce toner images of different color which are printed by transfer-printing on a transfer-printing sheet.

An intensity of light radiation of the drum is controlled in accordance with the induced potential. The light radiation may be radiation of a light image to form the electrostatic image or subsequent uniform radiation. The induced electrostatic potential may be used to control an exposure aperture device such as a device defining a variable width slit. In another embodiment of the invention the electrode is in the form of an occluder plate and is positioned by electrostatic force to block the light radiation to a variable degree in accordance with the induced electrostatic potential.

    摘要: An image transfer unit provided with cleaning means for use in an electrophotographic copying machine comprising an electrically conductive transfer roller disposed in abutting relationship with a photosensitive member, an electrically conductive, rotatable cleaning means disposed in abutting relationship with the transfer roller, and electrical bias means connected with the cleaning means and having a switchable polarity. During a transfer step, a bias voltage of opposite polarity to that of the toner is applied to the transfer roller through the cleaning means. At this time, toner attaching to the transfer roller is electrostatically transferred onto the cleaning means. During a cleaning step, a bias voltage of the same polarity as the toner is applied to the cleaning means, whereby the toner attaching thereto is transferred back to the photosensitive member through the transfer roller. The toner which is transferred back to the photosensitive member is removed by separate cleaning means.

    摘要: Abnormality diagnosing method in which a highly reliable abnormality diagnosis of an image forming apparatus can be initiated immediately following the delivery of the image forming apparatus to a user. A plurality of sets of data of a plurality of types of information related to the condition of an image forming apparatus are acquired for a plurality of electronic devices of the same type comprising the image forming apparatus that serves as the subject for appraisal during operation tests following the manufacture of said image forming apparatus. A reference data group containing all of the plurality of sets of data acquired during the operation tests on the plurality of image forming apparatuses is employed as an initial reference data group for determining an index value calculation equation for calculating a condition appraisal index value. In addition, it is preferable that data for the reference data group be acquired and added at prescribed update timings following the initiation of usage of the delivered image forming apparatus. The acquisition and addition of this data may be performed only for individual data groups comprising data acquired for information that is easily affected by the usage conditions of the image forming apparatus by the user.
