    摘要: An image forming apparatus may include a first transfer section for transferring a toner image, formed on an image carrier by utilizing a charging section, an exposing section and a developing section, onto a belt shaped intermediate transfer member; and a second transfer section for transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer member onto a recording material by applying an electric field between a second transfer roller being provided outside the intermediate transfer member and a backup roller being provided inside the intermediate transfer member, the second transfer roller and the backup roller sandwiching the intermediate recording member and the recording material. The second transfer roller may be grounded and a bias voltage may be applied to the backup roller, and a second charging section for charging a surface of the second transfer roller with a predetermined polarity may be included.

    摘要: A transfer unit includes a belt member, a bending roller, a transfer section, and a bias application unit. The belt member is extended between rollers and has a movable surface on which a toner image is transferred from an image carrier. The bending roller externally contacts the surface of the belt member to bend the belt member and rotates in conjunction with the belt member. The transfer section includes one of the rollers and a surface moving member. The surface moving member rotates at least one full turn while cleaning is performed on the surface moving member and the bending roller. A surface moving speed of the bending roller is equal to or greater than a surface moving speed of the surface moving member. A circumferential length L1 of the surface moving member and a circumferential length L2 of the bending roller satisfy L1≧L2.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for cleaning a transfer roller of a wet-type image forming apparatus are provided. The method includes applying a measured voltage to the transfer roller; measuring a resistance among a transfer backup roller, an intermediate transfer medium, and the transfer roller based on the applied measured voltage; calculating a density of a toner of a developer on the transfer roller based on the measured resistance; and if the density of the toner is more than or equal to a predetermined reference value, supplying a carrier or applying the cleaning voltage. Thus, the cleaning voltage can be adjusted depending on the density of the toner of the developer on the transfer roller so as to maintain appropriate cleaning efficiency. If the density of the toner is greater than or equal to the predetermined reference value, the carrier can be supplied so as to improve the cleaning efficiency.

The transfer member cleaning apparatus includes a cleaning blade and a rotatable cleaning member around the transfer member.
