摘要： Process for preparing an a-amino acid having the general formula (1) of ##STR1## where R represents an aryl group or a substituted aryl, cycloalkyl or alkyl group, in which process glyoxylic acid, or a precursor or derivative thereof, is contacted in the presence of sulphamic acid with an unsaturated compound chosen from the group of aromatics, cycloalkenes and alkenes. By applying the process higher efficiencies are obtained.The acid obtained as reaction product can be esterified and amidated without prior isolation.

摘要： Phloroglucinol or its monomethyl ether is prepared at high yield, without producing by-product pollutants, by reacting a phenol that contains one or more leaving groups, e.g. a halogen atom, with alkali metal hydroxide in the initial absence of water in an inert organic liquid medium, e.g. pseudocumene, which forms an azeotrope with water formed by the reaction; distilling off reaction water as azeotrope; and acidifying the resulting alkali metal salt.

摘要： Resolution of DL-S-benzoyl-.beta.-mercaptoisobutyric acid into its optical antipodes is effected by treating the DL-acid in solution with D-(+)-N-benzyl-.alpha.-phenethylamine. The D(-)-S-benzoyl-.beta.-mercaptoisobutyric acid itself as well as its salts, esters or derivatives can be obtained advantageously by this process.
