摘要:
The present invention is a method and apparatus for providing an enhanced automatic drive-thru experience to the customers in a vehicle by allowing use of natural hand gestures to interact with digital content. The invention is named Virtual Touch Ordering System (VTOS). In the VTOS, the virtual touch interaction is defined to be a contact free interaction, in which a user is able to select graphical objects within the digital contents on a display system and is able to control the processes connected to the graphical objects, by natural hand gestures without touching any physical devices, such as a keyboard or a touch screen. Using the virtual touch interaction of the VTOS, the user is able to complete transactions or ordering, without leaving the car and without any physical contact with the display. A plurality of Computer Vision algorithms in the VTOS processes a plurality of input image sequences from the image-capturing system that is pointed at the customers in a vehicle and performs the virtual touch interaction by natural hand gestures. The invention can increase the throughput of drive-thru interaction and reduce the delay in wait time, labor cost, and maintenance cost.

A method for calibrating a projective camera is provided. The method includes acquiring information by detecting at least one object on a substantially flat ground plane within a field of view. A projective camera calibration is performed. A measurement uncertainty is considered to yield a plurality of camera parameters from the projective camera calibration.

A system for detecting and tracking targets captured in images, such as people and object targets that are captured in video images from a surveillance network. Targets can be detected by an efficient, geometry-driven approach that determines likely target configuration of the foreground imagery based on estimated geometric information of possible targets. The detected targets can be tracked using a centralized tracking system.

The present invention is a system and method for detecting and analyzing motion patterns of individuals present at a multimedia computer terminal from a stream of video frames generated by a video camera and the method of providing visual feedback of the extracted information to aid the interaction process between a user and the system. The method allows multiple people to be present in front of the computer terminal and yet allow one active user to make selections on the computer display. Thus the invention can be used as method for contact-free human-computer interaction in a public place, where the computer terminal can be positioned in a variety of configurations including behind a transparent glass window or at a height or location where the user cannot touch the terminal physically.

A method for re-identifying an image is provided. The method comprises obtaining a plurality of images and generating a correspondence map between the plurality of images. The method further comprises defining a plurality of region signatures for one or more regions comprising the plurality of images and comparing the plurality of images based on the correspondence map and the plurality of region signatures to perform image re-identification.

A system and method of face recognition is provided. The method includes capturing an image including a face and registering features of the image to fit with a model face to generate a registered model face. The registered model face is then transformed to a desired orientation to generate a transformed model face. The transformed model face is then compared against a plurality of stored images to identify a number of likely candidates for the face. In addition, the face recognition process may be performed passively.

A system and method for tracking the movements of persons. The system includes at least two video devices and a computing device. The computing device is coupled to the at least two video devices and it includes a computing section capable of performing calculations to support mode stratified particle filtering. The method includes visually capturing a scene encompassing one or more strata, re-sampling each of the stratum, and redefining each of the stratum. The method further includes adding new or subtracting old strata based upon the arrival or departure of isolated targets within the scene and normalizing each of the stratum.

A method and system are provided for tracking an object, such as a person, within in a scene. The system/method receives input to track an object of interest in a scene with one or more image capture devices, captures a 2D image of the object, creates via an image processing system a 4D model of the object, and then uses the model to provide enhanced tracking of the object.

The present invention pertains generally to the field of computer graphics user interfaces. More specifically, the present invention discloses a video image based tracking system that allows a computer to robustly locate and track an object in three dimensions within the viewing area of two or more cameras. The preferred embodiment of the disclosed invention tracks a person's appendages in 3D allowing touch free control of interactive devices but the method and apparatus can be used to perform a wide variety of video tracking tasks. The method uses at least two cameras that view the volume of space within which the object is being located and tracked. It operates by maintaining a large number of hypotheses about the actual 3D object location.
