摘要： A reaction solution that is used for image recording with an ink containing a coloring material in a dissolved or dispersed state to destabilize the dissolved or dispersed state of the coloring material in the ink in contact with the ink to provide high quality and abrasion-resistant images, wherein the reaction solution contains at least a polyvalent metal ion and a nonionic polymer, the Ka value according to the Bristow method is from 1.3 mL·m−2·msec−1/2 to 3.0 mL·m−2·msec−1/2 inclusive, and the viscosity is from 20 mPa·s to 150 mPa·s inclusive.

摘要： An ink-jet recording apparatus, it is possible to assuredly execute replenishment of ink into an ink tank and control of a pressure within the ink tank during ink replenishment by a simple configuration, and reduce the size and the weight of the apparatus, and improve reliability of the apparatus. The ink-jet recording apparatus includes an ink tank for receiving ink from an ink intake, an ink supply unit for receiving ink from a replenishing tank into the ink tank by a negative pressure introduced from a suction port of the ink tank in the inside of the ink tank, and a negative-pressure controller for causing the negative pressure within the ink tank to remain in an ink supply channel from the replenishing tank to the inside of the ink tank, so that the negative pressure within the ink tank does not return to an atmospheric pressure while receiving ink.

摘要： An ink set which comprises a black ink containing an aqueous medium and a pigment dispersed in the aqueous medium by an action of an ionic group, and at least two color inks each containing a coloring material and an aqueous medium, wherein (i) respective images formed with the respective color inks have the same &Dgr;E or have the difference in &Dgr;E that is 10 or less in a CIELAB color space display system in a fading test under conditions that cause fading corresponding to pseudo-indoor sunlight fading through a window for 3 years or more, and (ii) at least one of the color inks contains at least one of a coloring material and an additive that destabilize dispersion stability of the pigment in the black ink. The ink set can provide a high quality multicolor image keeping color balance after long preservation and showing less bleeding between black and color regions.
