摘要： The suction device includes a pneumatic cylinder and a hollow piston in the cylinder movable between a retracted and a nonretracted position and comprised of axially adjacent first and second portions, at least a part of the circumferential periphery of each of the two portions being spaced from and out of contact with the inner periphery of the cylinder to define therewith respective first and second spaces. The piston unit includes a sheet-engaging portion having a suction opening which communicates with the ambient atmosphere and constitutes the end of the hollow interior of the piston unit, the hollow interior communicating with the second space via the first space. The cylinder is provided with a suction port opening into the second space to form a path for the flow of ambient air into the suction opening and out through the suction port, the flow cross section of the first space being smaller than that of the second space so that the first space constitutes a flow restriction in such path.

摘要： A folding apparatus for web-fed rotating printing presses which comprises a machine wall, folding knives, and one movable folding blade. A fixed folding blade stop is provided. One movable folding blade, operating against the fixed folding blade stop, coordinated to each of the folding knives. A folding knife cylinder, and two double-armed levers. The folding knives are guided under taut spring action and disposed on one of the double levers. One of the levers has a cam roller, which engages temporarily for the duration of the rearward movement of the cylinder a swingable cam segment. A hub is provided and a cam is fastened to the hub and has two surfaces extending at an obtuse angle to each other, and is adapted for fixing the position of the cam segment. A switch for the blocking of a control circuit for at least one of the forward and rearward movements of the folding apparatus is controlled by the cam.

摘要： Mechanism for controlling sheet manipulators, including sheet guides, in a perfector press, when the press shall be switched from obverse-obverse to obverse-reverse printing, or vice versa. A first printing cylinder and an adjacent transfer cylinder of the press have linkages pivoted about the respective cylinder axes and swingable, relative to the cylinders, in coordinated and partly overlapping motions. The linkage of the first printing cylinder repositions a sheet guiding plate by crank, link and guide units. It also repositions the sheet gripping mechanism of the first cylinder and, with lost motion, that of the transfer cylinder. Exact positioning of all mechanisms are provided by detent and release means in the transfer cylinder.

摘要： A method of electrochemical metal-removal. A metallic work tool having surface high-points and a metallic workpiece are each connected to a different terminal of a source of electrical energy, so that the workpiece and work tool can be used as the anode and cathode, respectively, of an electrolytic reaction. Relative movement is effected between the workpiece and the work tool in a first direction, associated with penetration of the work tool into the workpiece. Relative movement between the workpiece and the work tool is also effected in a second direction transverse to the first direction. An electrolyte is passed between and in contact with the work tool and the workpiece. A current flow is established between the work tool and workpiece and results in oxidation of the metal of the workpiece and the formation of high-points on the surface of the workpiece. At least intermittent contact is permitted between the work tool and the workpiece, in order to effect momentary shortcircuits between surface high-points on the work tool and surface high-points on the workpiece.

摘要： The number of sheets to be separated from the main output upon occurrence of a predetermined operating condition is set into a code switch. When the main output is blocked or when a predetermined number of sheets has been received at the main output, or upon application of an external signal, the contents of the code switch are transferred to a counter. Signals signifying the passage of a sheet past a predetermined location are applied to the counter and the counter counts in reverse until zero is reached. While the counter is counting a relay controlling the direction of transport of the sheets transfers sheets to a second output station. When zero is reached the relay is again energized, causing the sheets to be transported to the main output again.

Means are provided for positively controlling applicator rollers not tangent to the adjustment arc. The eccentric bushing for the diagonal adjustment of the plate cylinder has a substantially axial groove, a pull-or push rod has a collar, and the latter is guided in the axial groove. A ring member has at least two arms, arranged loosely on the eccentric bushing between a wall and a safety ring fastened to the eccentric bushing. Angle pieces have threaded bores and the arms at their ends into the angle pieces. Movable spindles are provided for the fine adjustment of bearings of the applicator rollers.

摘要： An arrangement in multiple color rotary printing machines for controlling the stacking of sheets so that they are stacked on either of one of two stacks. One stack is designated for normally processed sheets, and the other stack is designated for those sheets different from the normally processed ones. A shift register is actuated with shifting pulses from a pulse generator, and receives a signal from a sheet examining station in one stage of the register. A memory circuit is connected to this one stage of the register. The output of the memory circuit actuates, through an amplifier, a stacking mechanism so that the distribution of printed sheets is controlled between the two stacks.
