One example method includes generating a first profile identifier based on an account identifier of a currently logged-in account of an app. The first profile identifier and a token in a push system are sent to a server of the app. A push message from the server is received by using a push connection corresponding to the token, where the push message includes a second profile identifier. A processing manner of the push message is determined based on whether the second profile identifier matches the first profile identifier. The first profile identifier is locally stored information generated by a terminal device.
