摘要: A system and method for controlling the interior temperature within a vehicle. In a preferred embodiment of the system, the system responds to increases in exterior temperature by reducing the interior temperature of the vehicle passenger compartment. The system preferably includes a temperature sensor within the passenger compartment and a microprocessor programmed to respond to signals from the temperature sensor. The microprocessor operates to roll down windows and/or engage a fan or air conditioning unit until a desired and comfortable temperature is achieved within the passenger compartment. The user can pre-program the system with settings that are stored in a memory or use factory default settings. A moisture sensor can also be coupled to the microprocessor to respond to rainy conditions. In one alternate embodiment, a two-way paging and cellular network module is included to contact the vehicle operator when the system is engaged. In another alternate embodiment, the system is programmed to increase the interior vehicle temperature in response to decreases in the exterior ambient temperature by engaging the heater unit of the vehicle.

摘要: This invention includes a stylus that employs a translucent material for conducting light to convey information from a portable electronic device to a user. In one preferred embodiment, the stylus provides a thermometer style fuel gauge. Inserting the stylus into a special stylus holder actuates the fuel gauge. A thermometer like fuel gauge reading then appears in the body of the stylus. Other embodiments include changing color, focal point of a lens and light intensity to convey information. The stylus may be used to convey any type of information, including receipt of e-mail by the portable electronic device.

摘要: A current interrupt device for rechargeable, electrochemical cells having a safety valve, insulating spacer and a thin metal plate for coupling to an electrode assembly is provided. The thin metal plate electrically couples to the safety valve by way of a conductive polymer, preferably having a positive temperature coefficient characteristic. The positive temperature coefficient characteristic is such that the impedance of the polymer increases with increasing temperature. In normal operation, the polymer conducts current. In high current situations, where internal components heat due to parasitic resistances, the polymer becomes an insulator and disconnects the cell from the exterior can. When gasses build within the cell, the safety valve deforms, thereby causing the safety valve to separate from the thin metal plate. Once the safety valve and thin metal plate have separated, the electrode assembly is electrically isolated from the exterior can.

摘要: This invention is a “power” toolbox for vehicles that charges power tools and batteries while the vehicle is driven. A preferred embodiment is intended to be placed in a pick-up truck bed. The toolbox is coupled to the vehicular automotive system, and electrical power is delivered through electrical contacts in the toolbox to modular compartments that hold power tools or batteries in a nested fashion. When the vehicle is running, any battery or tool coupled to a compartment is charged. The compartments may be of different shapes and sizes and may include electrical circuitry to modulate the voltage and current from the vehicular electrical system. An optional manual switch is provided to disengage the toolbox from the vehicular electrical system.

摘要: This invention includes a universal base unit having a plurality of cables, each corresponding to a unique electronic host device. The cable includes a capacitor having a value corresponding to a particular electronic host device. The capacitor is coupled in series with a resistor to ground in the universal base unit. The cable further includes a unique mating connector for coupling to the electronic host device. The universal base unit identifies the cable by actuating a step function across the capacitor-resistor network, causing an exponentially decaying waveform. A microprocessor in the host device then measures the width of the waveform to determine the identity of the cable or host device. The system allows a user to carry a single power supply or universal base unit with multiple cables as opposed to having to transport a different accessory for each electronic device.

摘要: The self-contained portable unit is attachable to and detachable from the shaft of a golf club and has a base mounting plate supporting a pair of light emitting diodes (LED) aimed in opposite directions parallel to the shaft of the club. The base plate supports removable batteries electrically connected through a switch to the LEDs; one LED is aimed downwardly towards the club head parallel to line of shaft and the other LED is aimed upwardly towards the handle end of the club parallel to line of shaft. Using a target line, such as the edge of a rug, a piece of string, or line on a hardwood floor, an imaginary ball is addressed in the normal fashion so that the light towards the head traces the target line and then once the club passes a parallel position the second light picks up the same target line while the swing is continued to the top of the swing.
