摘要: A stabilized oral pharmaceutical bead dosage form of sodium iodide I-131 is described. The sodium iodide I-131 is dissolved in a polymer film and the polymer film is applied by conventional coating technology which affixes the sodium iodide I-131 to inert substrate beads. The film also stabilizes the sodium iodide I-131 from chemical degradation. The utility of the bead dosage form is that it provides a decreased radiation hazard over that of handling a sodium iodide I-131 liquid. At the time of manufacture a specified amount of sodium iodide I-131 is applied to the substrate beads. The sodium idoide I-131 containing beads are then stored appropriately until dispensed by the pharmacist or physician. The key advantage of this system is that dispensing flexibility is maintained because as the sodium iodide I-131 undergoes radioactive decay the pharmacist or physician can compensate for the loss by dispensing a larger quantity of the coated beads to constitute the prescribed sodium iodide I-131 dose. Then just prior to patient administration, the beads can be filled into a single hard gelatin capsule of if the patient prefers, the beads can be dispensed in water, orange juice, apple sauce or any suitable liquid or food intended for oral administration. This dosage form described herein minimizes the radiation hazard from the time of manufacture to the time of administration, provides dosing flexibility to the pharmacist and physician and offers the patient numerous options in terms of dosage form administration.

摘要: The present invention relates to a tool for accurately controlling the location, volume and containment of an abrasive grit material during a plating operation wherein the grit material and a matrix metal are deposited onto a tip portion of at least one workpiece. The tool of the present invention has an inner component with slots for receiving the workpieces to be coated. The tool also has an outer components having a plurality of through slots for permitting a plating solution to flow therethrough and into a space defined by the inner and outer components. The tool further has a slot defined by portions of the inner and outer component for introducing the abrasive grit material into the space. A screen is provided over the slots in the outer component. The screen helps maintain the abrasive grit material within the space while permitting plating solution to flow into the space. The tool of the present invention further has a trough for collecting unused grit material. A method for forming a coating on a tip portion of a workpiece or workpieces using the tool of the present invention is also disclosed.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a novel enteric-coated oral dosage form of a risedronate active ingredient comprised of a safe and effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition which is comprised of a risedronate active ingredient and pharmaceutically-acceptable excipients. Said dosage forms prohibit the exposure of the risedronate active ingredient to the epithelial and mucosal tissues of the buccal cavity, pharynx, esophagus, and stomach and thereby protects said tissues from erosion, ulceration or other like irritation. Accordingly, the said dosage forms effect the delivery to the lower gastrointestinal tract of said human or other mammal of a safe and effective amount of the risedronate active ingredient, and substantially alleviate the esophagitis or esophageal irritation which occasionally accompanies the oral administration of risedronate active ingredients.

摘要: The present invention provides a dual-action tablet composition comprising:(a) an outer tablet comprising a first dose of active ingredient dispersed in a pH independent hydrophilic polymer matrix; and(b) an inner tablet comprising a second dose of active ingredient in a rapidly disintegrating excipient base. This dual-action tablet is especially efficacious for those active ingredients which have half lives of less than two hours and which experience decreased absorption efficiency in the lower gastrointestinal tract. Among the preferred dual-action tablet compositions is one wherein the active ingredient in both the inner and outer tablets is guaifenesin. Upon administration, the outer tablet provides a controlled release of the active ingredient while the inner tablet gives a second dose of active ingredient after the outer tablet has partially dissolved.
