摘要： Waste compacting apparatus comprising a hopper; a compaction tunnel communicating with the hopper and providing an outlet for waste deposited therein; a packer located and reciprocable through successive forward and return strokes to advance waste from the hopper into and through said compaction tunnel, a ram, forming part of said packer, normally telescoped therein and retractably extendible therefrom in the direction of reciprocation of said packer, the ram having a leading end which forms a small portion of that of the packer as a whole when the ram is telescoped therein; motor means for reciprocating said packer through successive cycles of operation respectively comprising forward and return strokes, a standard cycle of operations commencing at a lead-off position with the ram telescoped in the packer and re-cycling means, responsive to mechanical stalling of the packer in the forward stroke of a standard cycle of operations, for terminating the forward stroke, returning said packer to its lead-off position, and initiating a special cycle of operations comprising forward and return strokes in which the forward stroke is effected with the ram extended.

摘要： A surfboard having opposed side edges disposed symmetrically about a longitudinal centerline, the surfboard including a tail section, the side edges of the surfboard along said tail section defining a generally hourglass configuration with the contours of tail section side edges approximately hyperbolic curves. In one specific embodiment, the side edges of the tail section approximate the left- and right-hand branches of a hyperbola centered on an origin lying on said longitudinal centerline. According to another aspect of the invention, the surfboard includes a pair of side fins and a tail fin attached to the bottom surface of the board. The side fins are symmetrically disposed relative to the longitudinal centerline and are so oriented that the center planes of the side fins pass through the foci of the hyperbolic side edges of the tail section.

摘要： A method and apparatus for providing concurrent applications of intermittent pneumatic compression therapy and vacuum assisted closure therapy generally comprises a wound dressing for introduction of a negative pressure into a wound on a patient's foot and a foot wrap for application of positive, compressive forces to substantially all of the patients foot. A suction pump, having an associated vacuum sensor and first feedback mechanism, supplies negative pressure to the wound dressing. A ventable source of pressurized gas, having an associated pressure transducer and second feedback mechanism, supplies positive force to the foot wrap. At least one control system is operably associated with the suction pump and ventable source of pressurized gas for controlling the negative and positive applications of pressure to the patient's foot. Controlled modes for operation include continuous or intermittent application of one or both therapies and simultaneous or cycled application of the therapies.

The system on a wireless device includes means for detecting a user action indicating a particular mode for the wireless device. The system on a wireless device further includes a processor in the wireless device for configuring settings of the wireless device in response to the user action. The configuring of settings is performed any one of manually and automatically. The settings of the wireless device include at least one of a ring setting, a battery setting, an input pad setting and a device use setting.
