摘要: A manual breastpump has a pump mechanism for use in one mode of operation to produce an ejection (letdown) reflex in a nursing mother and in a separate mode of operation for the general expression of breastmilk. The breastpump further provides a pump mechanism having an expansible chamber device carried by the handle, which is operated by moving the handle relative to a handle mount. A double-pivot for the handle yields letdown mode as well as the general pumping mode.

摘要: A chest drainage system including a collection device configured to receive fluid from the pleural cavity of a patient. A sensor is included to detect a pressure differential in the fluid. A display is configured to display a trend in occurrences of changes in pressure of the fluid over time in predetermined time increments based on a number of detections of pressure differentials that exceed a predetermined pressure differential during each of the predetermined time increments. The trend is correlative to the percentage of time that the patient is deemed to have an air leak in the pleural cavity in the predetermined time increments. The trend is derived from a ratio of the quantity of respiratory cycles of the patient for which the predetermined pressure differential is detected (QRCleak) in the predetermined time increments to the total quantity of respiratory cycles of the patient in respective predetermined time increments (QRCtotal).

摘要: This invention proposes the construction of a simple closed loop system for continuous flow harvesting, collection, syphoning, and grafting of large volumes of fat. (See FIG. 1—a schematic of the overall setup). This invention uniquely bypasses the standard cumbersome and time-consuming process, that mainly being the need to first transfer fat into individual syringes prior to grafting into the patient. This is traditionally done with unmeasured, manual pressures as generated by a simple plunger syringe. It can be messy and sloppy, with loss of fat. In contrast, this innovative concept presented here simplifies the whole process into a closed loop, from the donor harvest site, and then back to the patient. The concept is modular, drawing on commonly used, interchangeable parts and pumps present and available in most basic community hospital operating rooms. The major benefit is a significant reduction in time to transfer. However there is also a simplification of the process with less air exposure time, consistent controlled limit on flow pressures, and a simple on off control that can be held in one hand. The system is adaptable to standard liposuction and introduction cannulas through standard liposuction tubing and a luer lock connection. Collection canisters are also interchangeable.

摘要: Disclosed is a pressure control method capable of performing wound treatment by using a cover unit, a tube member and a pressure control module, the method comprising: (a) the pressure control module forming a pressure having a first pressure value at the wound via the tube member and the cover unit; (b) within a first period of time, increasing the pressure from the first pressure value to a second pressure value; (c) within a second period of time, decreasing the pressure from the second pressure value to a third pressure value; (d) after the pressure has been increased from the third pressure value to a target pressure value, the pressure control module stopping increasing the pressure; (e) sampling a value from the pressure to form a sampled pressure value; and (f) according to the sampled pressure value, determining whether to perform a pressure boost process or perform step (e).

摘要: A method and apparatus for performing modulated fluid delivery and aspiration during a surgical procedure such as phacoemulsification is provided. The method and apparatus include delivering fluid and/or aspirating fluid in a modulated or pulsed manner during a surgical procedure, including applying fluid and/or aspirating fluid in connection with ultrasonic energy at a level and for a time period sufficient to induce transient cavitation. Fluid may be applied and/or aspirated at a timing sequence and duty cycle similar to or different from application of ultrasonic energy delivery.
