摘要： Quick-release casts are presented. A cast can include multiple layers of material. An inner layer comprising a soft material contacts an affected limb and forms a padded layer. One or more additional layers can wrap around the padded layer to form nested tubular casts. The materials used to form the tubular casts are preferably impregnated with a curable compound capable of hardening to provide rigid support for the limb. Each of the tubular casts can wrap around the affect limb and have an overlapping seam that permanently seals in position upon curing of the curable compound. Each of the tubular casts can include a quick-release fastener that pre-joins sections of the tubular casts together before application to the limb. After the limb heals, the fastener can be undone to remove the cast quickly, quietly, and comfortably without causing undue distress to the patient.

摘要： An electronic system has critical circuitry, non-critical circuitry having a first section and a second section, and a power sub-system. The power sub-system has a first power assembly, a second power assembly, and a set of connections. The set of connections is configured to connect the first and second power assemblies to the critical circuitry and the non-critical circuitry such that, when the first and second power assemblies operate to power the critical and non-critical circuitry through the set of connections, (i) a failure of only the second power assembly results in the first power assembly continuing to power the critical circuitry and the first section of the non-critical circuitry, and (ii) a failure of only the first power assembly results in the second power assembly continuing to power the critical circuitry and the second section of the non-critical circuitry.

The method includes: measuring power requirement for each one of a plurality of components for use in one of a plurality of possible system configurations; storing the measured power requirement in a table; entering into the table a specified one of the possible system configurations to obtain the power requirement for such one of the specified system configurations; calculating from the table the total power expected for the specified system configuration; presenting the calculated power to a user; determining whether the calculated power is acceptable or unacceptable to the user; and if determined to be unacceptable, entering into the table a new system configuration.

摘要： A brace for reducing a metacarpal fracture is presented. The brace comprises a palm plate and a finger trough for receiving a finger having a metacarpal fracture. The trough couples to the palm plate at a proper angle of flexion for reducing the fracture. An individual places the brace on the plamar side of their hand and places the finger having the fracture in the trough. A fastening system holds the brace in a stable position on the hand. The trough maintains the metacarpal-phalangeal joint at the proper angle of flexion while also maintaining necessary axial compression along the finger to reduce the fracture.
