    摘要: A steered shaft of a steered mechanism is rigidly fixed to a vehicle body. Steering-stiffness is reduced by a lowpass filter for filtering a steered angle detected by a steered angle sensor. A deviation between a target steered angle and the filtered steered angle detected by the steered angle sensor is input to a PID control unit. A gain setting unit sets each of gains for PID control at a low value to thereby reduce steering-stiffness. The PID control unit outputs a target current. A drive circuit performs, e.g., PID control of the steering actuator.

A control unit sets a predetermined period after detection of gripping on the knob by a grip detection device as a transfer period for transfer from reaction force application only by a wheel reaction force actuator to reaction force application only by a knob reaction force actuator. In the transfer period, the knob reaction force is increased with time and the wheel reaction force is reduced with time.

In the steer-by-wire mode, a steering actuator (19) is controlled for steering and a reaction force actuator (11) is controlled for reaction force. In the power steering mode, steering assistance control is performed with either of the steering actuator (19) and the reaction force actuator (11) caused to function as an assistance unit. In the transition mode, in a transition period from either of the steer-by-wire mode and the power steering mode to the other, the reaction force actuator (11) is controlled for reaction force.

The control unit (9) includes a fail detecting section (29) for detecting, when the steering actuator (14) is normal, a fail of the transmission mechanism (18) based on a load on the steering actuator (14).

    摘要: A motor vehicle steering system is provided which includes: an operation member for steering a motor vehicle; a steering mechanism for turning steerable wheels of the motor vehicle; a first actuator and a second actuator each operative to apply a driving force to the steering mechanism; and a clutch mechanism operative to mechanically engage and disengage the operation member to or from the steering mechanism. When the first and second actuators operate normally, the clutch mechanism is brought into the disengaged state, and a driving force is applied to the steering mechanism from the first and second actuators and, when one of the first and second actuators malfunctions, the clutch mechanism is brought into the engaged state, and the steering assist force is generated by the other normal actuator in accordance with the operation of the operation member.
