Abstract: In a steady rest (1) for centering a rotationally symmetrical workpiece (2) in the space, consisting of: two housing halves (4, 5) arranged at a distance from one another and firmly connected together, a middle steady rest arm (6) arranged between the two housing shells (4, 5) that is mounted in the housing shells (4, 5) by means of an actuation piston (7) so as to be moved in an axial direction (3) towards the workpiece (2), and two outer steady rest arms (11, 12) that are in a driving connection with the middle steady rest arm (6) workpieces (2) with the largest possible diameters should be held centerd in the space by the steady rest (one), while retaining the greatest possible movement of travel of the actuation piston (7). This is achieved in that the actuation piston (7) is formed from at least one first advance piston (31) and one second advance piston (32) that are mounted in an axially moving relationship with one another, that a pressure space (33) or (34) is assigned to each advance piston (31, 32) of the actuation piston (7) and that a line (35) emerges in each pressure space (33, 34) through which a pressurized medium can be pressed into the particular pressure space (33 or 34) or drawn out of it.

Abstract: In a chuck (1) for supporting rotationally symmetrical workpieces (2) that are to be machined using a machine tool, consisting of a chuck body (3) that has at least three guideways (5) worked into its end face running in the direction of the longitudinal axis (4) of the chuck (3), at least three clamping jaws (6) that are inserted individually into each of the guideways (5) in a movable arrangement and a driving means (12) in a driving connection with the clamping jaws (6) directly or via intermediate elements (8, 11), each of the clamping jaws (6) of the chuck (1) should be adjustable during machining. This is achieved in that the driving means are configured as an electric motor (12), that each clamping jaw (6) has an electric motor (12) allocated to it, that each electric motor (12) is arranged inside the chuck body (3) and that, when the chuck (1) is stationary, the electric motors (12) are electrically connected to a power source (15) by means of a plug-and-socket connection (16) and electrical cables (14) and/or when the chuck (1) is rotating or at a standstill each is connected to the power source via an induction device (21, 22, 23).

Abstract: It is already known to detect the position of a pressure element of a steady rest, by means of which its angle levers are actuated, via a traction cable and its rolling position. Possible penetration of liquid via openings in the housing, present for functioning, is avoided by applying sealing air which generates a positive pressure in the housing. After operation, however, penetrated or penetrating liquid could damage the coiling device of the traction cable and impair the position detection.
The present invention is intended to provide the option to provide a more accurate and simpler detection of the position of the pressure element, and thereby further alleviate the problem of penetrating liquid. This is achieved by use of a distance sensor that detects the position of the pressure element and is drained via a drain hole. During operation the drain hole is closed via a sealing air-actuated discharge valve, so that during operation the sealing air cannot escape through the drain hole, but in the rest state, any liquid that has still penetrated drains off.-

Abstract: In a zero-point clamping device (1) for centered locking of an object (2) with repeat accuracy, in particular a workpiece, a tool or a pallet, the zero-point clamping device comprising: a housing (4), a receiving opening (5) worked into the housing (4), which has a centering axis (6) with which the object (2) is aligned during the clamping process, and two opposite clamping slides (7, 8), each of which is mounted axially displaceably in a bore (9) provided in the housing (4) and which open into the receiving opening (5) during the clamped condition and thereby act on the object (2) or a carrier part (32) and center it, on the one hand, this should enable a reliable, permanent and repeatable fixing of a large number of workpieces, tools, pallets or other objects (2) and, on the other hand, the housing (4) of the clamping device (1) should be extremely compact, i.e. its external dimensions can be kept extremely small in height and diameter. This is achieved in that, an actuating element (11) is rotatably mounted in the housing (4), the axis of rotation (12) of which actuating element (11) runs parallel to the clamping slides (7, 8), a through-opening (13), which is aligned perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis (10) of the clamping slides (7, 8), is incorporated in each clamping slide (7, 8), and a pivot pin (14, 15) is inserted into each through-opening (13), one free end (16) of which pivot pin (14, 15) engages in a guide groove (18) incorporated in the actuating element (11) and is connected to the guide groove (18) in a driving arrangement, and the opposite second free end (17) of the pivot pin (14, 15) is inserted into an abutment (21) associated with the housing (4) and is held in the latter in a tilting arrangement.
