Abstract:
A machine for binding bales of material comprises a binding unit, a feed mechanism for feeding the binding wire and a wire guide track. The binding unit itself comprises a guide bar, a locking unit, a twisting unit and a cutting unit.
Abstract:
By the apparatus of the invention paper bags containing potato chips, pastries or other goods are mechanically packed into outer containers in a manner preventing the crushing or breaking of the contents of the bags and ensuring that the bags are constantly maintained in a fixed array during their passage through the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a bag conveying path, a bag lifting means cooperating with said path and having the form of parallel rows of outwardly projecting pegs moving along endless paths and adapted to receive therebetween groups of bags in a predetermined array, a horizontally and vertically movable carriage the rear portion of which lifts a group of bags from the bag lifting means onto a bag receiving platform and the front portion of which moves the group of bags along said platform, a vertically movable holder for said group of bags arranged above the platform, a means for further advancing the group of bags along the platform, and a means for transporting the group of bags onto a blank from which the outer container is subsequently formed.
Abstract:
Washing pulp is effected in apparatus wherein the washing liquid is forced through a perforate wall into and through a body of the pulp and into a collecting space for the washing liquid. To prevent clogging of the perforate wall, the influx of treatment liquid into the collecting space is interrupted at suitable intervals, the interruption being produced by pressure variations induced by a vibrator operating in the liquid.
Abstract:
APPARATUS FOR MIXING SUSPENSIONS OF MATERIALS WHILE ADMIXING ADDITIONAL TREATING MATERIALS THEREWITH IN WHICH THE SUSPENSION IS CIRCULATED THROUGH A SLEEVE-SHAPED CASING ENTIRELY WITHIN A CONTAINER. THE TREATING MATERIALS ARE ADDED TO THE SUSPENSION WHILE IT IS BEING IMPELLED THROUGH THE SLEEVE-SHAPED CASING. THE OUTLET END OF THE CASING IS SPACED FORM THE WALL OF THE CONTAINER WHICH PROVIDES A SURFACE FOR IMPINGEMENT OF THE TREATED SUSPENSION TO PROVIDE TURBULENT MIXING THEREOF.
Abstract:
In withdrawing liquid from cellulosic pulp by a procedure comprising passing a column of a slurry of the pulp to be dewatered through a cylindrical vessel, in one direction, and flowing the liquid towards a chamber for withdrawn liquid, said chamber having a pervious wall immediately adjacent said column, it is desirable - in the interest of preventing clogging of the pervious wall - intermittently to interrupt inflow of liquid into said chamber by pressure variations induced by a gaseous fluid into the top of said chamber.
Abstract:
A machine for binding bundles of preferably wire rod material with wire includes a carriage on which the binding unit is mounted for movement towards and away from the bundle to be bound, the binding unit including a mechanism for feeding the binding wire from a magazine, an openable wire guide track surrounding the bundle to be bound and which serves to guide the wire around the bundle, a wire clamping assembly, a wire twisting assembly and a wire cutting assembly.
Abstract:
IN THE COURSE OF BEING DELIVERED INTO A GENERALLY VERTICAL BLEACHING VESSEL, CONTAINING A GASEOUS BLEACHING AGENT IN A FREE SPACE IN THE UPPER PART OF THE VESSEL, A CELLULOSE PULP IS SUBJECTED TO VIGOROUS MECHANICAL WORKING IN A DIRECTION TRANSVERSE TO THE FALLING DIRECTION THEREBY BEING FINELY DISINTEGRATED AND FLUFFED.
Abstract:
Preliminary to being delivered by a ''''thick stock pump'''' means to a generally vertical bleaching vessel there is added to a cellulose pulp a fluid, such as steam, oxygen or a gaseous bleaching agent to flow countercurrent to the pulp in such manner that any air in the pulp is displaced and is replaced by bleaching agent before bleaching of the pulp in the bleaching vessel.
