摘要: A composition including a first fiber derived from a first natural source, and a second fiber derived from a fruit, the second fiber being substantially free of surface active components. Surface active components may include oils, fatty acids, or other aliphatic and aromatic moieties that compromise edge wick performance. A process of manufacturing a paperboard product may include removing surface active components from fruit fiber to be included in manufacturing paper products to obtain a paper product with improved edge wicking properties.

摘要: A method of synthesizing nanostructures from agro-waste can include providing powdered Phoenix dactylifera agro-waste; mixing the powdered Phoenix dactylifera agro-waste with a liquid to provide a Phoenix dactylifera agro-waste solution; heating the Phoenix dactylifera agro-waste solution in a hydrothermal autoclave to provide a heated solution; and centrifuging the heated solution to provide a liquid fraction and a solid fraction. The liquid fraction can include a first plurality of nanostructures. The first plurality of nanostructures can include C-dots. The solid fraction can be further processed to provide a second plurality of nanostructures and a third plurality of nanostructures. The second plurality of nanostructures can include lignin nanoparticles. The third plurality of nanostructures can include cellulose nanocrystals. The nanostructures can be used in various applications, such as three dimensional cell culture, UV-protecting textiles, and bio-imaging.

摘要: Bleaching methods and formulations for bleaching/delignification processes for chemical pulp are provided. The bleaching methods utilize peroxide and an organomanganese complex under aqueous caustic conditions, increasing bleaching efficiency of the overall bleaching/delignification process. Chemical pulp having increased brightness can be obtained at decreased temperatures and with reduced stage time, resulting in reduced chemical consumption and improved energy efficiency.

摘要: A bleaching apparatus comprises a measurement chamber has a first substance, the amount of the first substance in the measurement chamber being known. A dosing unit inputs a second substance to the measurement chamber for causing a chemical reaction between the first substance and the second substance, one of the first substance and the second substance being chlorine dioxide and another of the first substance and the second substance being filtered sample from pulp slurry of a pulp process. At least one sensor performs detection of a property known to depend on the chemical reaction between the first substance and the second substance as a function of time. A data processing unit determines chemical demand of chlorine dioxide for washing loss in a bleaching sub-process on the basis of at least one value in the detected property within a known period of time after the input of the second substance.

摘要: An improved semichemical pulping process is disclosed to reduce washing costs and recovery process costs, while producing equivalent pulp and paper products. In some variations, the invention provides a process for producing a paper product from biomass, comprising: digesting lignocellulosic biomass in the presence of steam and/or hot water to generate an intermediate pulp material and a liquid phase containing extracted hemicelluloses; mechanically refining the intermediate pulp material, to generate a refined pulp material; and introducing the refined pulp material, the liquid phase, and optionally a separate solid material to a paper machine, to produce a paper product. The process optionally employs no washing step. When the liquid phase is washed from the intermediate pulp material or the refined pulp material using an aqueous wash solution, the wash filtrate may be introduced directly or indirectly to the paper machine.
